OwlFancier posted:Rare steak is lovely, but I tried it blue once and it just didn't taste of anything. It really depends on the cut, I find. I hate tenderloin no matter how it's cooked because I believe it has no flavour, whereas other people tell me I'm missing out. I find a NY strip to be very flavourful regardless of how it's cooked, and I prefer my ribeye to be slightly more well done so the fat has at least some chance to melt into the meat. My favourite raw things would probably have to be scallop sashimi, and raw egg used as an ingredient in Caesar dressing, fresh mayonnaise, or in cocktails. Oddly enough, I've never had any kind of food-borne illness from "the usual suspects," but I've had horrible food poisoning from normal things like pizza that, I strongly suspect, were not being held at the correct temperature.

Raw eggs I think are generally fine in the UK because we don't have a big problem with avian salmonella due to, amusingly, vaccinating chickens against it. At least if you buy lion eggs. Otherwise I would probably be dead from eating cake mix by now. I dunno about other places or how much of a problem it is abroad. But yeah dodgy fast food is a great way to get something unpleasant. Actually that's a thought, I wonder if antivaxxers in countries that vaccinate their livestock still eat meat? Or whether they'd stop if you told them about it.

One thing that really hurts vaccination is the association with big business. I mean, it's perfectly understandable to be concerned about the level of self-interest that can develop when someone is selling a product that is essentially mandatory. Unfortunately the answer for a lot of people is chewing on berries and drinking carrot juice.

Also, it'd be pretty nifty if we could just irradiate our meats to kill any and all of the bad poo poo in it! Too bad these same people will freak out because they don't understand that exposing something to radiation does not make it radioactive or dangerous.

That kind of broke my brain for a bit, "How do you even...?" Then I just figured he's another snake oil salesman. He thought he would get rich off of being a cardiologist, then when all that paperwork got to be a bother, he started selling snake oil. So he's a well credentialed snake oil salesman, but still a snake oil salesman. The Mandingo posted:gently caress this doctor. How do you get someone's medical license revoked? If it makes you feel any better, amongst all the threats he has received, there are several doctors out there lobbying to get his medical license revoked. The local doctors are even more pissed at him than you are, and are probably more used to dealing with Medical board licensing. One disgruntled patient is a blip, they have malpractice insurance for that. A half-dozen doctors arguing to strip a doctor of their medical license, yeah, that raises a few eyebrows.

The Mandingo posted:gently caress this doctor. How do you get someone's medical license revoked? From looking at how state medical boards work (mostly related to my ongoing side project, Operation Oz), I can say that it's really freaking hard to get someone's license revoked. This shouldn't be too surprising- the apparatus is run by the people it's supposed to regulate after all. Lawyers have a similar structural problem, but imo (despite not being a lawyer) it's not quite as bad, perhaps because the rules are written and understood by, well, lawyers, who have fairly detailed and case-specific standards for the attorney-client relationship and what it entails. Clinical ethics is more of a grab bag, which sucks.

Moron McFucknuts, cardiologist turned witch doctor, might be arguing a technicality in that there might not be a specifically named "vaccine specialist" since its covered by one of the other 900 specialties out there.
