Could be worse. Im single with no prospects, broke and my roomate is on house arrest for the next month which means no beer in our fridge (or anywhere for that matter) and no smoking weed in my own goddamn bed. Today was the first day and i realized slamming a 40 in the parking lot every day is not going to cut it.

So I'd been toying with the idea of upgrading my Explorer's A/C system to a digital climate control, but after seeing how complicated it was, I kinda backed off. I figured it'd be a evap box swap, some sensors, etc... But nope, you need a full wiring harness swap, a pcm reprograming, and a bunch of other parts. Guess that's not happening. Unless....I wanted to do a full V8 Swap. That's the worst idea I've ever had. I wish I had a fun car to work on

I have to walk to a bunch of ATMs so I can draw out enough money to go buy a car tomorrow, dealing in large amounts of cash is an edge case for sure, but it sucks having an online only bank in this situation

Think of it as a chance to upgrade to a lighter, faster model, while paying less than just what you'd pay at the body shop on the old one. Sounds like the old one is in some serious maintenance debt too, and the newer ones have much better mechanicals.

I need some help, I have an interested party for the Civic but it has an issue I need to sort out first. The holes for the plate bolts have rusted solid and our attempts to drill them out just mangled them worse. I need suggestions to repair/replace them so a plate can be normally bolted in place.

Not much you can do but to get a better/sharper drill bit and just drill the gently caress out of them. Unless there's a head left to grip a vise grip on, then Id say soak in PB for a few days then try vise grips.

Yeah, you can just go to a bank, swipe, and get the cash once they authorize it. I've done it three or four times. BofA is used to it, and generally quick. Last time I did it was for 5500, I just asked them to authorize me to pull that much out, walked into BofA, told the cashier what I needed, swiped, and then ran out before a methhead stabbed me for it. Or you can find a UPS store that happens to be ballin, since they'll cash USAA checks.

Then my last idea if you can't drill it is if you have a dremel you can cut a square the size of the plate kits they sell at autozone that have the plastic inserts and screws and use that.

I found something that looks like it can be screwed into the sheet metal and has four holes for the plate. I can either use self tappers or I can drill and bolt it in place. I'll probably hit AZ tomorrow to see if they stock something similar and if not I'll just Amazon it.

It came stock with a 1l 3 cylinder turbo engine and was pretty hilarious to drive. We're both right, actually, though I'm aware of the Sprint. The Pontiac Firefly version of the Metro was offered with a turbo in Canada for a few years; either way, the Metro/Firefly are a 2nd generation Cultus. rscott posted:lol I signed up for that secured credit card and now all of a sudden I exist again to banks I guess and unsecured credit card offers are appearing in my mailbox. 24% APR with awful fees and only a $300 limit but I guess that's progress? I get offers to apply for all kinds of cards. Well, did. Seems when you report ID theft to the credit bureaus, they take you off of every credit card mailing list. Less junk mail for me. I'd always get declined on those offers anyway; my credit is still rough enough that Credit Karma suggests bankruptcy firms now and then. But my credit score jumped a little bit after getting a secured card (9.9% APR, $35/year), enough that Walmart gave me a store card (rear end-rape 24.99% APR, $300 limit, but I can take cash advances for free and pay the bill at a self-service kiosk at the local Neighborhood Market, and no yearly fee), plus a free FICO score every month (my secured card also gives me that - both claim it's FICO, but there's a 60 point difference between them). Then it nosedived by 40 points because I'd just opened 2 cards, now it's rebounded and actually gone up a bit past the score I had before getting the cards. Helps that I'm trying to pay them off every month, and I got $10/month knocked off my car insurance by letting USAA auto bill the secured card. Preoptopus posted:Could be worse. Today was the first day and i realized slamming a 40 in the parking lot every day is not going to cut it. Can't you put a mini fridge in your bedroom, and a lock on the bedroom door? I know when I had a roommate on paper, his PO could search the common areas and his room, but couldn't legally enter my room without my permission. It did piss off the PO a bit, and he wasn't on house arrest (just probation), but unless the roommate owns the house, you may be able to do that. Obviously he should check with his lawyer first. Also, get a small vaporizer. There's hardly any smell at all with my MFLB, and it's small enough to keep in my pocket (just gotta make sure nothing metal is in that pocket, since I lost the caps for the batteries years ago). rscott posted:I have to walk to a bunch of ATMs so I can draw out enough money to go buy a car tomorrow, dealing in large amounts of cash is an edge case for sure, but it sucks having an online only bank in this situation ATMs owned by Wal-Mart (they double as payment kiosks for Walmart credit cards, Bluebird cards, etc) let you do multiple withdrawals, up to your bank's daily limit. No fee if your bank is on STAR either. You usually see those kiosks in the Neighborhood Markets, I can't say I've seen one in a full Wal-Mart yet (since the full stores usually have a bank of some sort, which operates their own ATM). I keep a local account with a credit union, but I have it solely to move money into my main account (USAA). I drop off my tips every couple of days at the ATM, then log into USAA's site and transfer the funds. I do this more because my credit union's online banking takes up to 3 days to show transactions if I run my debit card as credit, I've been bit by so many NSF fees by forgetting about a transaction. None of the other CUs in my area have ATMs that accept straight up cash deposits without an envelope (and give instant credit, even on holidays/weekends/etc), and I don't know of any banks that still have actual free accounts without direct deposit. iwentdoodie posted:Or you can find a UPS store that happens to be ballin, since they'll cash USAA checks. No they won't - they'll only accept check deposits for USAA, they won't cash anything. And as I learned, USAA will hold checks deposited via The UPS Store for up to 10 working days. A UPS store won't have that kind of cash on hand anyway.
