The sneaking suit also puts pressure on internal organs and has bulletproof material sewn into it, lessening the chance of a serious injury while wearing it. I don't know if it was intentionally or not but something I found funny in Arkham Asylum: Harley Quinn release all the craziest mental patients in Arkham and make it appear like you're in deep poo poo now. They even designed it so that if one of them spots you they run screaming with rage towards you. Turns out that all you have to do is counter them and they fall over.

I just beat Dishonored. Corvo is a gofer for the entire game, and isn't for the last two missions. Despite the change, the game keeps its intermission area so that the narrative shift doesn't actually disrupt the rhythm of the game.

Make potions that can let you leap far into the distance so fast the game cannot keep up with you and has to load, make a scroll that shatters the enemy's equipment, make a spell that burns everyone in a 50 foot radius, make an amulet that would constantly regen your MP before MP regeneration was a thing and yes, making a potion that shot up your personality and mercantile so high you could buy anything for 1 gold and sell it back for all of the merchant's money. As a reminder: These fun things that broke the game if you knew what you were doing was why Oblivion's and Skyrim's magic systems were neutered.

Skyrim didn't remove the ability to break the game, it removed the ability to break the game in a fun way. You break Skyrim, there's not much to it, you just become an unstoppable knight. And sure, you can just be an unstoppable knight in Morrowind and Oblivion, but it's much more lucrative, and much more fun, to get creative and go loving insane. This is especially true in Morrowind, but Oblivion will let you flip out if you're clever too.

Len posted:The funny thing is there's posts in the "things dragging a game down" thread that go "Skyrim is bad because of how easy it is to break with enchanting" I will never stop being amused over the ability to break the game popping up in both threads. I think there's two parts of this: each TES game has a progressively larger audience and a lot of them probably haven't broken games to the extent that TES games let you before. It can be jarring and kind of weird if that's not what you're playing them for. The second part is that there is wayyyyy less to do in terms of character building and skills in each progressive TES game. Morrowind can be split wide open in under five minutes if you have half an idea what you're doing with it, but playing blind your character is almost guaranteed to have some serious shortcomings for several hours of gameplay. Even then, unless you really plan stuff regarding how you're using your potion ingredients (or where to buy which summoning spell and where to sell the soul gems afterwards, or what items to enchant with what benefits) it's possible to have a really high ranking in a given skill without necessarily knowing how to exploit it. Skyrim has way less skills and the perks make it pretty clear how to best abuse each one, so things like alchemy + enchanting are really easy to stumble on naturally a lot easier. poo poo, you mouse over a Sneak skill node, a Marksman skill node, and an Enchanting skill node and you have a pretty good idea how to break the game just through what the helpful text says. Oblivion is almost-sorta immune to this because the level scaling really fucks over the type of metagaming that worked well in Morrowind.

Lord Lambeth posted:Nonsense, oblivion has the create-a-spell altar. Locked behind literally the highest level of a faction. Regardless - I meant more in terms of the skills available to the player. In Morrowind you could use them cleverly at low levels to make yourself stronger than an in-game god, in Skyrim you can build bows that one-shot dragons. Oblivion doesn't have super breakable combinations of skills like that (as far as I remember at least) and if you tag any non-combat skills you've hosed yourself out of the level progression pretty hard. My first character tagged Sneak, which was pretty great until it levelled me up several times. Then any time where I couldn't really hide (mostly hallways in some of the portals) enemies would curbstomp me. It was pretty awful.

Couldn't you tag secondary combat skills and totally useless primary skills , leaving you overpowered since the game scales around your primary skills? or was that morrowind

Len posted:The funny thing is there's posts in the "things dragging a game down" thread that go "Skyrim is bad because of how easy it is to break with enchanting" I will never stop being amused over the ability to break the game popping up in both threads. Well yeah you can break it, but not in a way that Morrowind does it. Skyrim you can do some enchantments where you get like 2 million health regen per second, but you can't make a spell that breaks the armor of everyone in a 50 foot radius or make your own form of fast travel be jumping across the land. In non TES games, I'm playing Metro 2033 and there is a level where someone you're traveling with runs into some bandits and you have to save him. You can just go loud and kill everyone, or go silent and kill everyone. Now at the end of the mission another friendly character pops up and the loading screen has the main character mention "It felt like someone was helping me from the shadows". If you go stealth the guy actually DOES help you by shooting some enemies with a pneumatic crossbow, I have never noticed this before and confused the hell out of me when I heard what sounded like a snake hissing and the enemy in front of me suddenly has a bolt in his chest.

Lord Lambeth posted:Couldn't you tag secondary combat skills and totally useless primary skills , leaving you overpowered since the game scales around your primary skills? or was that morrowind Yep, absolutely, but it kinda required knowing how the game was set up because "tag things that you will hopefully never ever use" is pretty much the opposite of intuitive.

One of my most favorite things in Morrowind was that if you cranked your strength high enough through alchemy, your weapon would shatter on impact with the enemy. You could hit dudes so hard in that game that it would kill the enemy AND your sword instantly.

I liked how Morrowind let you know about the crazy magic system. Walking in the middle of nowhere you hear a scream and an npc splats to death in front of you. Search the body and you find an enchanted item with +1000 or something to the jumping skill. Athletics? Of course I immediately used it and died the same way.
