is that a thing that actually happened? haha, I mean, cuts are harsh, and a person wants candy now and again... that's hilarious.

A friend of mine just asked me what commentary ment by "cutting off the cage" in mma and I wanted to show him some examples. What are the best examples of best/worst you guys can think of in that respect? I was thinking recent: Best being Weidman vs Machida and worst being Nick Diaz vs Carlos Condit.

Lineker lost against Bagutinov because he couldn't corner him. Six months later he fought Ozkilic and his footwork was great. Those two back-to-back would show the difference between cutting off the cage and just walking a guy a down.

George Foreman was the king of cutting guys off in boxing. He was so slow and patient about setting himself up and then unloading.

Really if you dial up any fighter who was short for his weightclass but still wrecked poo poo you're going to be on the money. Chris Weidman cutting off Machida was brilliant too.

Bader vs Machida, Tito vs Machida and Silva vs Machida all show guys chasing instead cutting off the cage and in the case of Silva and Bader getting knocked out because of it.

Bader does chase poorly, but he also does this awful thing where he leaps at a guy chin first. In the Tito and Machida fights he goes down because he's basically mid-air and gets hit square on the chin with no legs under him.

Would the Thiago Alves fight from last week be a good example of cutting off the cage? He had Jordan Mein kinda trapped against the wall and seemed to be herding into sidestepping into that big kick at the end.

I'm not a huge boxing guy, but I just watched Pacquiao vs Bradley 1 for the first time and turned the sound off to score for myself. The DEC was obviously really controversial and alot of people thought it was one of the worst they'd ever seen. I actually scored it 114-114. Am I retarded, or was this boxing's version of the GSP/Hendricks DEC, in that it was very close and could've went either way, and the fans complaining about it are stupid?

I gave Bradley like 1 round out of pity. I mean Pac definitely took some rounds off and it probably made him look worse off to the judges, but at no point did it look like Bradley was winning poo poo in that fight. I'm sure the Bradley superfan is gonna come in here and tell us all how dumb I am though

You can't see it from that angle but Bader's punch gets deflected and still lands with enough force to push Machida's head to the side. Laughs all around.

So I don't really follow MMA but I really liked Sakuraba and his style and all that. I know he retired a a while ago then did some comeback fight or rematch with a Gracie? It was hyped up a lot then happened nothing? Think it was about 5 years ago. And most people were sure it was fixed?

It was a lovely match in which Royce won a very bad decision and then tested positive for steroids, and you probably shouldn't bother watching it. He retired from mma in 2011 after losing to a relatively unknown dude named Yan Cabral. He had a grappling match with Renzo Gracie last year in Metamoris; it was a draw which both dudes went into with injuries and were old besides, and wasn't all that great. Neither of them were fixed and people claiming they were are probably kind of dumb. If you liked Saku in Pride, I can't honestly recommend many of his post-Pride performances. He was injured and old and kept going long past the point where he should have stopped.
