Apparently the reason none of the new alpha testers got emails or have access to the alpha forums is because their system hosed up and gave a ton of extra people alpha access. If the queues are this low with a ton of extra people, how the hell do they even test anything?

Advice for the ISU-152? I am utterly incapable of persuading pubbies to slowly into my gun the way my teams inevitably do when there's an enemy ISU. I also don't really get how to find firing lanes as a TD, I'm used to being able to scramble around for firing angles on people as a medium, and trying to do this poo poo without a turret and slow as gently caress is incredibly unfun.

400 short of getting the bounced damage in my E-75 so I thought I'd try it in my 4502b - 1 minute after the battle starts my smoking wreck is in the fishermans bay village, having taken a penetrating 1700 damage HESH shell from a 215b 183 through my turret or sidescraped side that wrecked all the insides, followed 5 seconds later by a 200-whatever was left penetrating HESH shell from a FV4005 through the front hull somewhere. Those guns are just super fun to play against.

The ISU-152 does so much up front damage that I've found a lot of success just playing assault gun and going into towns / up close areas and pounding people up close. Here's a particularly successful version of that http://wotreplays.com/site/1599240#self Ignore the title, I do ~almost~ 8k damage but I'm uploading this from a few days ago and forgot. I basically only play like a proper td near the end, most of the damage is done up close and personal.

The problem with the Su-100 to ISU-152 grind is you sure do get loving bored of the 122mm for 3 tiers in a row. Use the 152mm, spam gold, lose credits and win games. When you're top tier and you 1 shot a lot of tanks / take out a tiger in two hits you begin to feel the fun.

Thing is blind as a bat so I'm considering just doing vents/gld/rammer Use binocs/camo/rammer. Optics aren't really useful with your aimtime and fixed gun and camo is really important especially for casemate TDs. The main thing with playing TD is learning good firing positions on the maps, remaining aware of the overall situation at all times and being patient. You generally have more time to think your decisions through than with the fast-paced style of most mediums or lights, but with your limited mobility and arc of fire, you also have to plan ahead more. demonR6 posted:But the SU-152 is such a horrible, painful grind. It just sucks the will to live from me. I guess playing it in pubs is not helping but even then I can't expect guys I toon with to hang around covering me so I don't get murdered. As the otehrs said, use the ML-20 and shoot gold except at long range or against tinfoil victims. Carrying a few HE actually makes sense with that gun in case of long-range shooting because HEAT tends to get really problematic with clipping the target at odd angles and similar bullshit if you try to dunk someone from 500 meters out with a derp gun. Also, nothing more funny than slamming a 152mm HE on the engine deck of a Tiger and watching him lose three quarters of his health and be set on fire. It also prepares you for the ISU by teaching you to pick your shots carefully and deal with the glacial rate of fire.

Oh, while I remember - in the LT or MT missions where you're required to damage a module or crewmember on an enemy tank, the tracks don't count When you're doing the HT mission where you need to complete it without having any crew or module damage at the end, tracks do count. Wargaming.

So what is the purpose of the Caernarvon? As being a slower Centurion doesn't really seem to be much of a benefit in exchange for mildly better gun handling.

Honestly speaking, the pen isn't enough to make up for the damage output you lose for shooting slower or missing more. At tier 9 there's no functional difference between 202 and 219. You want to be shooting things in the flank or the butt anyways.

Better frontal armour (ie can bounce 122 guns) and excellent gun handling. The Caernavron is a better Cent1 or rather a Cent7 with stock gun and busted engine.

The frontal armor is only an advantage if you can hide the LFP. ~75mm won't save you from much, especially when the ammo rack is right behind it.
