The spell would get countered on resolution because a planeswalker is not a legal target for Lightning Bolt. On the other hand, if it was something like Fated Conflagration, it would still damage the planeswalker.

Assuming they do the flip creatures (which I hope they do; it sounds awesome) I could see them doing some special "Bestow" rule where it still damages the planeswalker because.

It's such an obviously good idea that it would surprise me if they don't do it. Having the DFCs at mythic only would also help ease the printing costs.

Oh fair enough. I guess you could use the mechanic to do other iconic cards at the lower rarities too. One other way I can think of for them to do it would be to have the pre-spark creature "wish" into a sideboard planeswalker of themselves when the condition is met. Hmmm what would be the chances of "pre spark" plainswalkers being a different colour? Only asking because Liliana looks pretty loving white in that art (not racist), but I don't know lore so I have no idea if she was always evil or what

The guy from Wizards mentioned she was a "healer" pre-spark so it's certainly a possibility. Not sure that all of them will go through that sort of personality change.
