compare it to elite dangerous which has already been "released", but with far less features than star citizen has promised. they say they plan to add about the same kind of stuff in later updates (ie. land on a planet, exit ur ship, shoot some mans) but i think i saw there were already signs that it's starting to unravel

also unlike starcit, elite dangerous is done by a v. small team on a vastly smaller budget i will give citizen this much, they sure do spend lots of money on art asset creation (and on convincing insane people to buy virtual rights to said art assets) that's maybe too harsh, it seems likely croberts actually wants to deliver a real game, but the money grab is palpable, the ambitions are stratospheric, and the project management has not inspired confidence

and I'm sure his team is bottom-of-the-barrel talent who were brought on when the budget was tiny and he can't or won't fire them for good people, so you have an amateur trying to optimize netcode st it supports a real-time fps that takes place within moving ships and poo poo like that but instead of that, customizable hangars!
