My N5 is about 2 steps from completely unusable on 5.0.1. So bad that I've been trolling CL and the likes to swoop in on an N6 deal.
- Battery life is horrid
- I have to reboot it every 2 to 3 days so I can have Maps and *gasp* Music going or it will kill one or the other
- App switching after a couple days is glacial. Same with launcher redraws. Oh, sometimes it kills my alarm clock app randomly so I've had to plug in my old HTC Sensation with a shattered screen to use it as an alarm clock.

Just when I thought iOS 7 on my ancient iPhone 4 was the worst mobile experience ever imagined Google pulls this.

I'm experience all the same stuff on my 5.0.1 N5. Most annoying is Google Play Music crapping out on me all the time, and the constant Google Now launcher constantly redrawing. I hope 5.03 or 5.1 come out soon, or I might need to start running custom ROMs again.

I hope this is the right thread, I'm having problems getting Google Authenticator set-up on my phone, I had already set it up on my phone but did a fresh Lollipop install, and now I'm stuck getting 2-step verification to complete.

1. Open Google Authenticator on phone, Begin setup
2. Available google accounts -> mygmail@gmail.com gives "Continue on a computer, To enable 2-step verification for your Google Account, please visit accounts.google.com/security on a computer."
3. Go to accounts.google.com/security which redirects to https://myaccount.google.com/, 2-step verification is enabled, I go through the Security checkup and everything is set up.
4. Go back to Google Authenticator and hit Begin setup, same lovely message to enable 2-step verificaiton for your Google Account.

I turned my phone off, uninstalled Google Authenticator, took off 2-step verification. I'm out of ideas here, please help

It only took 3 months, lots of emails, sending a pdf of my credit card number so they could re-auth the charge, and another flurry of emails, but Tylt finally loving shipped the Vue I ordered on Thanksgiving Day. Anyone else still waiting on theirs? Jesus. I bet they wouldn't have bothered seeking re-auth on the credit card if I didn't follow up on it after month 2 of waiting. Fuckers.

Not sure what your problem is but you should use this app since it allows you to backup your 2fa data. Makes wiping your phone and reinstalling much easier.

The app is saying you can't use the guided setup (tapping on the available google account inside the app). Instead, on your computer go to myaccount.google.com and click on 2-step authentication (direct link: https://accounts.google.com/b/0/SmsAuthSettings) and from there choose switch device (or set up device, if you don't have one set up) and from there it will present a barcode. Then in the app you choose the scan a barcode option.

I think maybe what was tripping you up is that on myaccount.google.com it isn't obvious that you can click on the 2-step section to go into 2-step settings.

AT&T pushed 5.0 on the G3 yesterday, I like it.

Actually, let me restate, it fixed my biggest annoyance with Android which was proper lock screen notifications and Bluetooth smart lock seems to be a fair compromise on device security and ease of use without a good fingerprint scanner.

My Moto X (2013) headphone jack appears to be borked - it seems to be missing a channel. Plays fine over bluetooth. There is nothing lodged in it. Is this something common? Is there a mono setting somewhere that I'm missing?

In related news, is it getting a bit late in the life span of the Moto X (2014) to make sense ordering one? I have this Motorola discount code, and I like Android, but to be honest an iphone is getting more and more appealing.

Oh yeah, hahah. I've gotten that. YouTube video thumbnail gets stuck as lock screen. I tried recreating it, but could never find a combo of playing YouTube video, pausing or not pausing it before hitting "home", swiping it out of the task switcher or not, etc., that would consistently do it. I've only ever gotten it with YouTube, too.

I think there have been rumblings of a new Moto X announcement but nothing concrete. Given the sources I'd say go ahead and order one if you're comfortable with it. The 2014 came out in September if you want an idea how far into its lifecycle it is.

They've been sending me emails every few weeks asking me to email them my credit card number, or to cancel my order.

Since from the beginning the whole affair has been nothing but shady, I'm not going to do business with them (again, I guess?). At this point I'm approaching it like a performance art piece and seeing how long it takes them before they give up.

Sounds like you're lucky you haven't yet locked yourself out of your google account!
Please take a note of the backup codes it offers you when you finally find the right page in that interface to re-generate a new 2 factor code (it will show you a 2d barcode).

A few replies in this thread suggest alternative apps:
I find it hard to trust these if they're not open source, and I think the whole concept of syncing 2-factor codes over the internet is fundamentally flawed, especially if a 3rd party server is involved.

The only one other than Google Authenticator I'd trust is FreeOTP.

It should probably be pointed out the subscription price is for the Pro version of mightytext, which is only useful if you want to send mass texts or use their online photo storage

The basic 'send sms from your PC or tablet' stuff is completely free

I use pushbullet for everything but the sms side of things, as I generally find mightytext is better at it overall

It can do notification mirroring too, but pushbullet does that better..

For Android 2015 is the year of migration to 64-bit. So if you stick with Android the question to ask yourself is are you a bleeding-edge type person who wants one of the first 64-bit experiments, or do you want one of the absolute best of the 32-bit era?

Note that 32-bit / 64-bit doesn't actually matter for app compatibility etc., it's all about spec sheet bragging.
