Did he even actually write his Symbiote Planet story? Or have I just blissfully ignored Guardians and missed it?

Has Venom even done anything in Guardians?

Flash Thompson is the greatest host, and the suit upgrades to v2. Also the race are call the Klandars or something (which is dumb but at least it's a proper name) and are not actually bad. There are offshoots that are bad so Planet of the Symbiotes still happened, and bad bonds result in monsters. blah blah blah it is stupid but still not the stupidest thing that has happened to Venom.

Venom suit upgrade sort of looks like a mix between the Disney Infinity design (proportions) and a space marine.

edit:

The Ham switcheroo makes no sense. Uncle Ben splits like the panel after they arrive in the room.

I like her, and I want her to be more than the caricature that Slott, Hopeless and Land have made her out to be.

Everything changes, Pit.
Even gods.

Silk could grow into a good character, she's just not had a chance to do anything other than make out with Peter and be in Spiderverse.

I'm not expecting much but Kaine turned into a great character so I'll give her a chance to get interesting.

Because she's the center of some bad writing that reads like self-insert fanfiction. With her origin being that she was bitten at the same time as Peter, and her spider sense and agility are way better than his, and and she's so hot that Peter can't stop himself from trying to have sex with her every time they're in the same room. Her role during Spider-Verse hasn't helped either to make her seem like a worthwhile character.

Hopefully things improve in her own book.

Because she's literally Dan Slott's ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL-she got bitten by the Spider that bit Peter, her powers were apparently better than his with specialist organic webbing on demand, she was a competent fighter despite having been in a bunker for at least a decade, was able to get a job at a news channel despite the aforementioned 'was in a bunker for like 10 years and never graduated high school', her dire initial costume literally being webbing, and oh yeah, her & Peter have an nigh-irresistible urge to screw whenever they're around each other, so naturally they start dating.

Then in Spider-Verse she repeatedly screws up, sometimes out of good old fashioned stubbornness or pettiness(in some cases literally resulting in circumstances where her allies got killed) and yet stumbles rear end backward onto a radioactive universe that turns out to b the weakness of the inheritors (this was previously established back in the JMS run, when Peter used it to beat Morlun the first time-and yet he never thought to share or capitalise on that information until after reaching this dimension).

And then she got her own book apparently from massive fan support-despite the fact Spider-Gwen actually got that sort of rapport with the fans, while there's been virtually none of that for Silk. Dan Slott actually pointed to the high sales for Amazing Spider-Man #1 as part of this apparent support, despite the fact she only appeared for one panel in silhouette and there being several obvious reasons why that issue sold so well.

TL;DR she's an almost fanfic-tier OC that Slott & Marvel are telling us to like without providing much actual reason to. Who knows, maybe a new writer might be able to salvage her.

Because she's been in some really lovely books and is pretty much a sex object at this point.

Every dumb loving idea Slott's ever had was made better by whoever decides to write it next, so Silk might not turn out to be an awful character eventually, just an awful idea. I think they might be talking about real-time origins, like first-appearance, not the background of the character.

Wolverine's first apperance was as a campy enemy of the Hulk. The grimdark stuff got added on later, really. (I think?) X-23's first appearance was as a (child?) prostitute and I think the next place she showed up was her ongoing where she got said grimdark origin story.

(well... unless you count X-Men Evolution, which I guess you could)

To be fair, they were also a set of bad guys, that would respawn every time they died. Sure they thought blowing up the clone factory would fix that, but the Crystal thing with Solus shows they had plenty of tricks when it comes to cheating death.
The imprisonment/ slow death is most likely the only option that will really work.

I get the feeling that the idea was the souped up Leopordian was supposed to blanket the area with Radiation and help allow the Spider's to defeat the Inheritors, but it didn't really come across that clearly.

What's interesting is a preview for post Spider-verse shows a load of Spider's who are going to be part of Secret Wars, one of them is Spider-man Noire. Now, to the best of my knowledge, he died during Spider-woman's adventures with Silk. So there could be a fair number of Resutrections on the table in the Epilogue issue.

I think her new costume is a lot better but she's basically a character that is about 30-40 years too late to appear. (I don't agree with the waifu or character insert stuff since she's effectively the same background as Ezekiel. ) In Amazing she basically has all the traits that Spider-Woman has that Marvel are trying to downplay/change ignore, the whole being a woman and having pheromones/sex powers, super revealing costume, tortured childhood and so on. Not that, like Spider-Woman, it isn't anything that can be salvaged but it's something that shouldn't really be there nowadays. Also her real name is basically Moon Moon which is ridiculous in it's own right without the racist under/overtones. I'll give her solo a shot because the art looks nice and we'll see how the character can be changed.

It has to be too unceremonious to be an actual death. The Master Weaver stuff, Karn not taking his mask off and Kaine turning into a giant monster spider leave way too many outs.

But their arms are webbed to their sides, and also they need to eat totems (not just Spiders) to live. So they'll starve to death in the bunker if they're lucky, assuming that they don't trip on the way over and die of radiation poisoning before they can get up.

But then Slott wrote himself into a corner, so it's not surprising he didn't think the whole thing through.

Morlun wasn't webbed up? They threw them somewhere they couldn't hurt anyone and gave them their magic crystal. It was basically you'll have a poo poo time but I'm sure you'll figure something out and you can't hurt anybody anymore.

Like they've already shown themselves to be able to create cloning machines and other stuff, they're not just going to walk around in circles bumbling into walls and then die.

Except they'd be stuck in the bunker with no way to build up again. How are they supposed to manufacture cloning machines et al out of thin air? The most we know that bunker can do is make web fluid. It's not like they can put in an order to the Master Weaver for more stuff to build with.

And how do you mean there's more of the story to come? You mean the epilogue? How the hell are they going to address this without it seeming ridiculous? How do you know Slott is even going to address it?

I like to think that Morlun and his family didn't die because Slott really thinks that they are cool characters and he is being a nice guy by not killing them off, so other writers can use them, which is the saddest thing about this whole mess.

Peter Porker switcheroo was the one thing I enjoyed (also that no other Spiders died in this issue, we have them....until Secret Wars)

You're nitpicking.

They were literally thrown off panel because it's comics and they'll return at some point in the future if the epilogue itself doesn't feature Morlun declaring "I'll get you next time Gadget Spider-Man". They're very clearly not left with the intention that they're all going to die slowly and never show up again.

Yeah, I definitely think that there is still another twist to all this.
For instance with Otto.

I get the feeling that part of the reason that Otto killed the Master Weaver is that he knows his fate is to lose and be replaced by Peter when he returns to his time line. Maybe he figures killing the Master Weaver will have the effect of making everything mutable and giving him control over his own fate again.
I would not be at all surprised if the Superior Spider-man makes it out of Spiderverse with a continuation of his story.

Or maybe during Secret Wars Hickman will pull a "the Kree are alive/the Anhilatio wave is back/ Scott Summers has a Phoenix Egg" and say that Otto is on Battleworld.

Yeah, it reminds me of one of my problems with Batman Begins, where Batman says, "I won't kill you, but I don't have to save you." Whatever happened to the mandate, "Take my hand," that every hero has to do?

Not that it particularly matters in this case since they're crossdimensional vampires that keep coming back, but then they shouldn't even feign mercy and straight-up eliminate them.

Well, the point of that in the movie was that he wouldn't buy that Cap would let him die, but Tasha might. The plan was always for Falcon to catch him and bring him back up in the classic Batman 'scare the confession out' tactic.
