Crossposting from Auspol - we have a fine cartoonist by the name of David Pope, and he just released a great piece. For some context - a report regarding the treatment and living conditions of children in Australia's offshore detention system for 'illegal' refugees came out today (hence the art style). In short, it's absolutely damning, and a very distressing read.  At top left is Wyatt Roy, a very young parliamentarian and Liberal Party member (conservative party currently in government). He recently had the gall to advise our rapidly-sinking Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, that maybe he'd regain some lost ground by perhaps admitting his mistakes and broken electoral promises, and trying to move on in a positive way, maybe? Abbott, in front of a gathering of many other MPs, told him to gently caress off. Top right is, from left to right, Matthias Cormann, Finance Minister and all-round right-wing rear end in a top hat; Joe Hockey, hilariously incompetent Treasurer who smokes cigars and thinks fuel price hikes hurt the rich way more than the poor; and Abbot, who has big ears. The LNP are polling horrendously at the moment, approximately 43-57 against the opposing Labor Party. Bottom left should be pretty self-explanatory (the building with the flag is supposed to represent our Federal Parliament), and bottom right is Abbott again, who was an amateur boxer and, in his student politics days, intimidated female political opponents by deliberately punching walls next to them. Sorry about the words, it's all a bit regional but I felt it should be shared. edit: The cartoon is based off real drawings by children in detention.
