that was only the second-most interesting thing Winston said yesterday, he also all but outright claimed that Sabin got done for domestic violence. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3WeDiyRSjw&t=240s linked directly to what he said, but the whole thing is good (terrible) for how obfuscatory the Nats are about it.

I'd be very surprised if it was anywhere near cloud level, or even jet aircraft level, this sort of things happens VERY high up in the atmosphere. Basically if you still saw the flash despite being under clouds, that just shows how drat bright these things are. I only indirectly saw it, it lit up the wall in my living room, and my thought process quickly went from lightning (then I remembered it was clear out), to a passing car with bright headlights (I live on a main road). It was only later I saw the news articles and realised what had happened.

We all like ice creams. a lot of politicians (especially on one side ) are quite disrespectful, which you would expect I guess

In other Auckland news, TransportBlog is tweeting that the Reeves Road flyover plan has been dropped and cited the opposition to the proposed Basin project as a factor. I'm not sure what this means for AMETI given that Reeves Road sucks rear end, hopefully they're looking into light rail with signal priority as an option because that would own.

I can see it being different now because John Key's A Good Bloke is wearing off slightly and the timing of things is just really bad for the nats. Not holding my breath though.

I especially like that they confirmed tax payer money has been spent on the exhibition, but they aren't objecting to the exhibition just one specific item in it, but also their objection isn't to "the t-shirt per se" because that would make them look like idiot prudes who don't understand that an exhibit costs money to run but the individual items could be from private collections and not cost the museum anything extra to include.
