I've been having problems with my Awful.app for the past few days. As soon as I open it, it crashes. During the 2 seconds I can "use" it, it opens in the Private Messages tab and even if I am quick to click "Bookmarks", the crash comes anyways. I've tried restarting, quitting the app, etc. I'm using an iPhone 6 with iOs 8.1.3, if that's of any help.

I've had the same crash multiple times on my iPhone 5c and my iPad 2, both running the latest iOS ( although it was doing it on earlier versions.) if I click on an image to be loaded in the viewing screen and then hit done it has like a 40% chance of crashing the app. Have tried reinstalling it but this drat thing keeps happening.

I ran out of Internet time on my phone, and after topping up my bookmarks page is apparently permanently blank. If I switch to the alternative server on the settings page it works, so I suspect the problem relates to awful somehow caching the "you need to top up" page my phone provider injected, failing to parse it, and never trying to fetch an updated list?

Oops, I didn't think of trying that, and it seems to have fixed itself with time anyway. But there was definitely a period when using "forums.somethingawful.com" and refreshing the bookmarks would give a blank screen, while using "216.86.148.111" would work as expected, even after going back onto wifi.

I had what sounds like a similar problem before, where a public wi-fi network was putting up its "check this box to use the network" page and it got cached. Six hours and a different wi-fi network later, I was still getting the same thing. I fixed that particular issue, but the fix obviously didn't cover your case. I'll have to figure out what might've been different.

I think I know why the current code doesn't handle it, and I think I have a solution that will fix it. But if you can somehow manage to get the HTTP headers from the response that you got from your service provider (I dunno how but maybe someone else knows a way?) that would help confirm my hypothesis.

Is the thread listing bar always meant to show when my iPad is in landscape mode? I'd like it to, but sometimes it starts to disappear. I can't work out what causes it to behave one way or the other.

There's a setting for that, though it's not very hard to trip it up. When it gets confused, a quick toggle back and forth will set it straight.

Ok. I flipped the setting on and then back off. I'll see if that helps. It was staying broken over long periods. The other thing is that I've been having a bug where, when I come back to the app after a long while, scrolling to the bottom of the first page of threads doesn't trigger the automatic loading of the second page of threads. I have to go to the top, reload the listing and then go back to the bottom to have it load more.

Not really a bug, but kinda a discrepancy; post times show up in 12hr format with an AM/PM, but "user hosed around with" edit markers use a 24hr format.

I changed my account password; I can use it to log in on my laptop, and in mobile Safari, but Awful App says it's wrong. In all cases I am copying and pasting the said password from 1Password to the clipboard to browser/Mobile Safari/Awful. e: manually typing it in to Awful also does not work. ee: fascinating wrinkle: It appears the problem is exclusive to Awful for iPhone (5s, 8.1.3); copypasting the password into Awful for iPad (4, 8.1.3) successfully logs me in.
