NEED TOILET PAPER posted:Poor Liza is a story by Russian writer Nikolai Karamzin in which a young peasant lady living alone taking care of her aging mother meets a flighty young aristocrat. The two are very much in love, but then the aristocrat is called away to military service. Although he doesn't see any combat, he does manage to piss away all his money gambling, and so must marry an older, richer woman. The peasant girl, believing her beloved was away/dead all along, commits suicide when she finds out. Plagued with guilt, he kills himself soon after. The narrator closes wondering if they've reconciled in the afterlife. Such is life and death. i'm surprised US country music never got popular in Russia.

Country music's been moderately popular throughout the Eastern block because it was the easiest form of Western music to get past censors / perform illegally, also the home-grown bard / author-music genre is even more depressing.

There is a feud between the guys who go to a legit gym and the ones exercising outdoor ("tourniqmen"). The latter are mocked for being piss-poor straight-edgers, who only do pull-ups and post Misha Mavashi videos.

What's causing that? There are trains in Latvia that are pretty much that exact same make and model but they sure as hell don't light up like the 4th of July when they're moving. VV Yeah, after thinking about it, I think they are diesel here. beato fucked around with this message at 23:05 on Feb 18, 2015 |

There has been a lot of talk in the news about giving Ukraine legit military aid, and I'm wondering if that is going to make much of a difference. I was under the impression that their issues with the rebels isn't a lack of tanks or guns, or ammo, but more of a morale issue, logistics, and the fact that Russia keeps replacing whatever troops of theirs get killed or captured. So every time the government forces take out a rebel, another one or two takes his place. Also, giving them a bunch of F-16s or Abram's tanks isn't an instant +50 advantage, as the training and support is what makes them much more effective than your average Soviet-era weapon's system. Also add the "Putin factor" to this mess and the possibility that he doubles his support for the rebels should NATO get involved. Anyone else think that Putin would drop the charade and for-reals invade the Ukraine at the first sign of an Abram's or an abandoned Javelin, using the rationale that he has to offset this "blatant NATO invasion to suppress the ethnic Russian citizens of Ukraine" even if no NATO troops were in the country?
