Back when hurricane katrina knocked mississippi even further into the third world if you could make it to the nearby army base you could get two cases of MREs and 2 bags of ice. I was hittin that every day for 2 weeks and my parents still have those boxes stacked in storage. How long are they supposed to last, anyway?

The contents are by and large vacuum packed. With the rare exception of something not being well sealed, most of the stuff in an MRE will last basically forever. Also I could see $100 shipped for two cases. A case is pretty drat heavy, let alone two, presumably boxed together somehow.
