Job Seeker

Location: Los Angeles metro area

Education: BA Political Science

Experience: ~3 years working with digital media as a contractor - quality assurance, packaging files for publication, database management, and order tracking. My experience in tooling leans fairly niche, but I picked up a couple years working with JIRA for project tracking. Light customer support duties over the past few years, mostly filling in during high-volume periods. Some experience in a coordination role, mostly keeping contacts at various studios updated on progress and scraping together missing information. And of course the usual slate of Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, etc. 50-60 WPM typing.

Looking for: A position in digital media would be excellent, but I'm open for anything as long as it's within 20 miles of downtown LA.

Availability: Flexible.

Contact: randroidSA at gmail. I can provide a full resume, references, and more detail on whatever you please.

Hey, all,

I work for a television post-production house, and we're currently hiring for two in-house positions.

Business Development Manager (based in Burbank, CA)
Basically we're looking for more clients in order to up our overall volume. Qualifications would be...
  • Comprehensive understanding of digital media services
  • Background in broadcasting
  • a 4-year degree with minimum five years' experience in a sales capacity

Realtime Coordinator (based in Minneapolis, MN) (I think we actually need 2-3 of these guys)
Glorified IT position. You're monitoring the connections that stay-at-home stenographers use to tap into various networks' master control centers (whom you will be on the phone with a lot) to do realtime captions for sports and news programs (mostly sports). Qualifications would be...
  • Bachelor or Associate's degree in a communication or IT-related field
  • Good people skills (no nerdy shut-ins. Like I said you'll be on the phone a lot and working with one or two other coordinators at any given time.)
  • A desire to work weird hours. TV never stops.

Realtime Coordinator compensation would be $13-15/h. I imagine the Business Development position will have a pretty high-falutin' salary. We have full bennies and a 401k match of up to 4% (first 3% matched in full, 4 and 5 matched at half. So if you give 5%, they'll match 4%.) I've never been to California, but our Minneapolis office is p nice to work in, and it's a great town with a lot of character (even though I technically live in St. Paul lol).

PM me for details on applying. I'm trying to snag some nice referral bonuses by putting these up here, so please don't internet detective me and I'll take you out to a nice dinner if you get hired. :)

Your dumb is leaking.
I had posted this over in the SH/SC job thread but I think the business stuff doesn't really fit there so I'll post it here as well to see if anyone is keen.

JOB POSTING
I've got a couple of openings on my team and am having a hell of a time finding qualified folks, as it is rather niche, so I thought I'd throw it out here and see if someone wants to become the Highlander gainfully employed.

Who are we?
A very large financial institution.

Where are we?
Most everywhere, but the positions are based in Charlotte, NC.

What are we looking for?
My team handles implementation of our client-side data collection software for our website (hooray eCommerce) which powers a wide array of analytics teams and tools, collecting customer experience and basic web interaction data (pageviews, link clicks, ad impressions, etc). This includes analyst work up front, working with business leaders and other partners, project teams, and a menagerie of other folks to define requirements and determine what we're actually going to collect on a given page or set of pages based on a standard model we've developed. Once requirements are understood, we generate a specification (hooray documentation) and hand that off to coders who supposedly make it actually work. We test their code to ensure that it does work, and because it never does, we work with those dev teams to debug, fix, and retest until everything is working correctly.

As the name would imply, client-side data collection involves JavaScript, so you're going to need a decent grasp on that language and a deep, thorough understanding of Internet architecture and browser interaction (DOM, cookies, HTTP request construction, etc). We also do some fun stuff with mobile apps so any skills in that area, or with other server-side languages, is a great thing to have. Of course, HTML and CSS are a given. Though these skills are all very much required, this is not a coding position. We write code sparingly, usually as an example of how something might be accomplished.

In addition to those technical skills, a strong business acumen is required for the analyst portion outlined above. If you can't speak to a room of senior managers and the occasional executive without pissing yourself, this may not be for you. My team sits between the unwashed business masses and the IT teams that make things work, so a good mix of both is needed. Like I said, it's niche.

How do I apply?
Hit me up with a PM and we'll go over what you've got. I'm the hiring manager so I can give you fairly accurate feedback. Or you can use my username at Google's mail service.

What else?
The spots I have are contract to hire. While this may not be terribly awesome to start with, it's SOP for the organization we're a part of. If you don't suck, roll over to full time can happen in a matter of months. Once you're full time, the big boat o' benefits can become yours if the price is right.

Available Position!

My office has an immediate opening for an SEO guru at our Chicago (Ravenswood) office. This is a temporary position in and we're looking to have someone start right away. Have any questions? Feel free to PM me. Or, you can email your stuff directly to resumes@epagecity.com or use the link from CraigsList (posting linked below).

We're ideally looking for someone who can do this full-time, but if you are only available part-time, please send in your info, we'll definitely consider it because our main goal is to get someone in ASAP. There's also always the possibility of it turning into a permanent gig if you turn out to be amazing.

We're a bunch of cool cats who work hard but also play hard, relaxed atmosphere (every day is 'casual Friday', and some Fridays are 'Sweatpants Fridays') but we are professional as well - not a bunch of 'Brogrammers'. Recent outings included Whirleyball, Terrarium Building, Medieval Times and a tour of the Koval Distillery. And, we are close enough to Lincoln Square that a casual summer walk to Half Acre Brewery is not uncommon. :)

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/mar/4950107653.html

quote:

ePageCity is one of Chicago's leading website design/development and search optimization firms. Our digital marketing team helps clients build their brands online using SEO, SEM, SMM and other digital marketing strategies.

We have an immediate, temporary opening in our digital marketing team based at our offices in the Lakeview / Lincoln Square area.

Are you the person we're looking for?
• You've worked within the technical SEO sphere and can explain what differentiates it from on-page SEO work
• You can explain the keyword research process and are familiar with keyword planning tools
• You enjoy site audits and analyses, and can interpret your findings for non-specialists
• Your experience includes developing on-page SEO recommendations and implementing them
• You know how to interpret the success of an SEO campaign, extract actionable insights from metrics and KPIs, and develop strategies based on those insights
• You are familiar with 3rd party tools used in supporting campaign decisions or management of campaign interfaces
• You have led local search engine optimization efforts, and have experience running local business profile syndication
• You can demonstrate a curiosity with regard to the entire DM space -- blogs you read, sites you frequent, knowledge of the ever-changing DM landscape that you can share and turn toward crafting new SEO tactics
• You're a problem-solving analytical thinker with a sense of urgency
• You're ready for a change and a refreshing company culture

If that's you, then we should talk.

Bonus points if. . .
• You have experience with a CMS other than WordPress, even better if that is SEO experience
• You can name at least three approaches covered by "other digital marketing strategies"
• You have optimized website taxonomy
• You have additional experience in digital marketing or web development.

Responsibilities...
• Leading site audits used to map out SEO implementation
• Hands-on SEO: creating and updating meta data, optimizing and writing blogs, other digital asset optimization, and reviewing current strategies for improvements
• Acting as the lead on technical SEO projects
• Assisting our small but growing DM team

We offer...
• Interaction with a team that puts customer service first with a track record for delivering what's sold
• A professional, but also fun and relaxed working environment
• A stable company - we've been around for 15 years and have many hundreds of happy web design clients
• An hourly rate tailored to your experience and successes, hourly contract available.

Toilet Rascal
My company is looking to hire around 200 people as we start a second shift of operations.

Type of work: Mostly general labor, assembling trucks. We make walk-in trucks so hands-on people are a plus, though we also need people to supervise and do office work.

Location of work: Bristol, IN.

Hours of work: Some first shift (6am - 4:30pm four days a week) but mostly second shift (6pm - 4:30am four days a week). Some people from our current first shift will be doing second-shift work, hence the openings on both shifts.

Duration of work: The second shift is expected to last through Q1 next year, perhaps longer. Not something real long-term.

Pay: The lowest-tier workers start at $12.00 per hour and after 90 days get $13.50. Second shift gets $1.25 more per hour on top of that. Not bad pay for such a low cost-of-living area.

I don't really expect anybody on here to be interested, though if you know somebody that might be have them drop me a PM. I get $250 per referral :v:

Today I'm... amped up!

Job Seeker

Location: Washington DC Metro Area

Education: BA Political Science (Case Western Reserve University), MA International Affairs (American University)

Experience: 2-3 years of experience in International Development/Survey Research, 1-2 years administrative experience

What I'm Looking For: Some months ago, I posted here when I was actively looking for work and I got a pretty good response - thank you to all of the goons who replied!
However, it has been some months now since I accepted a different job, and while it is in the field of international development I don't feel that the work is challenging me enough.

To this end, I am looking for the following:
- Challenging work involving the acquisition of new skills: I used to do survey research in conflict zones, a job that was both technically challenging (lots of SPSS use) and challenging as a whole (going to Afghanistan to do this research), which fit the bill nicely. Challenging doesn't mean I have to be in any danger, though - it could mean writing reports, learning how to use new programs, or just about anything that's requires the ability to think in a big-picture kind of way (since that's my primary mode of thinking). I am an extremely flexible person - I've worked on projects ranging from surveying children about Sesame Street in Afghanistan to figuring out ways to counter violent extremism in West Africa.

- Research: I like writing, I like finding information, and I like synthesizing all of this into reports. I pride myself in my writing, and am always looking for ways to improve my writing style. It's one of my strengths, and I'm more than happy to furnish you samples of my work.

- Working in a cybersecurity-related field: I did a seminar with Young Professionals in Foreign Policy on the subject and I feel as if I am technically inclined enough to learn how to use the programs involved. At the moment, I'm currently trying to take an online course in network security but moving at the beginning of this year has complicated that timeline a bit, and I will be getting back to it shortly.

- International work a plus, but not required: Short-term travel across the world (or even around the country) is great, but I now own a house in the area - long-term assignments lasting for multiple months to a year are not preferable.

- A possible career transition: It's true that I have degrees in international affairs. It's also true that we live in a globalized world and a ton of jobs in the DC area are going to have international entanglements. Transitioning into a more technical field, even at the entry-level, is not something I'm going to scoff at especially if your company is starting to engage in more international work. I'm going to find a way to make my degrees useful.

- People who enjoy what they do, and are a little nerdy about it: Nothing's more awesome than people who enjoy what they do. In addition, I am an extremely positive person at work - these two together are a great combination.

What I'm Not Looking For:
- Administrative work: Though I have experience doing it, if the primary responsibility of the job is rote administrative work, I'm not very interested. I realize that every job has an administrative component, and I'm more than happy to do it. But if the primary work is similar to being an administrative assistant, please consider somebody else.

- Short-term consulting work: I prefer work where you and I see each other working together for over a year. Working on a single contract and then concluding our relationship at its end is a bad deal for me - I would like to have steady work, and I'm not ready to be an independent consultant yet (nor do I believe I have the experience to be a credible consultant at the moment). Working for a consulting firm is fine, however.

Availability: I am currently gainfully employed - I am available when you need me to be.

Contact: Please PM me, or failing that provide me with an email address in response to this posting. I will be more than happy to send you my LinkedIn Profile page link and any writing samples, should you so desire.
