I agree that it's a slur and all, but a lot of people haven't been exposed to the reasons why it's a problem, and a lot of people don't really understand why "but I don't MEAN it in a bad way!" doesn't really matter. It doesn't really make them terrible people, despite the fact that it's kind of poo poo. Sometimes you just have to accept that there's poo poo parts of everyone, and they can have crappy aspects without being bad or immoral or whatever overall. Going the tumblr route of "I can only like someone who has no problematic aspects ever!" is only going to end in madness and isolation. I say this as a recovering tumblrite.

This is going to blow you're mind but people who use terms like "tumblrite" and "tumblrina" often turn out to be horrible human beings as well. Don't make excuses for that stuff. It takes a huge level of ignorence to think it's alright just because they don't "mean it" a certain way and it's not acceptable. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that yes, they should loving know not to say that.

The banning didn't teach much I see. On the topic of reviewers, it's already been said, but Doug says dumb things and I do think he should know better, but meh. I don't feel the need to invest much into his moral failings especially when I'm more interested in some of the technical failings of his reviews.

His Dendy Chronicles series is about the eponymous 8-bit console. It was home to classic games such as Mario Bros, Super Mario 6, Darkwing Duck 2, Mario Bros 16, and Street Fighter III, aka...  There's an episode devoted wholly to the insanity of stickers on pirate game cartridges. He's European, so he will make jokes about the Chinese, so it might not be everyone's thing. Yeah, I saw that and cringed so hard. I mean, it was in response to a radar that showed a woman as a pink symbol and a man as blue, which was dumb to begin with. And it was "TrannyTracker 5000", which is wordplay more than anything. But... between that and the "haha, you're gay" jokes, I was like "okay, too much bro for me".

That's sorta how I felt too. I'm sure that was just a bad slip of the tongue rather than something scripted and planned. Sorry if I made a big deal out of it, I just sorta felt like there was a mild double-standard from some people bashing Doug but letting all the off-color jokes in the latest BotW go.
