Field horns break after one use now? That's a crock of poo poo unless they also have a 100% success rate for getting the monster to come over now.

Khezu has way too much health for such a boring monster. It also sucks that he sleeps in a way that you can't get to him unless you're a gunner. It took me a couple of minutes to realize that I could use the fist pump animation to wake him up. Right when I did that, he left the area. I chased him until he went back to the same area and one second before he got into the shock trap that the kitties left earlier, it broke. At least he turned out to be a big gold crown but god, I hate Khezu. Celery Face fucked around with this message at 23:39 on Feb 23, 2015 |

I didn't expect to be posting about a comic book crossover thing in this thread, but it looks like Gore Magala is making an appearance in the upcoming 'Worlds Unite' comic so uh Could indicate Archie Comics is going to try and launch a Monster Hunter ongoing?

Awesome! posted:he's fighting peco Well I don't know if the numbers on that attack were changed at all, or if it's just a case of ignoring it before, but it seems like a good source of damage when draw into sword attack into A,X,A,X,et cetera isn't available. Plus, it charges you up and the ending the axe flurry with R to attack into sword mode means you can continue bringing the pain even with your stamina drained.

Yeah I couldn't actually find any physical copies in my town, but I just bought it off eShop because I'm lazy and who cares? On the downside I can't loan it to a friend (although I could always loan them 3U) on the upside if I lose it, I can redownload it. I don't see myself trying to sell 4U anytime soon so that's a non-issue.

I guess you can sell it, but MH is hardly the kind of game you're likely to get rid of (at least until 5, at which point it's resale value will plummet anyways). Meanwhile on the eshop you can get it immediately, it's saves you a trip to the store plus you have access to your full library of games at any time, without carrying around a bunch of carts.

Really the only reason to get a physical copy of the game is if that's what you prefer. There aren't any specific downsides to doing so, but there also aren't really any upsides either.

If your friends don't already own MH4 and play it with you then they're not actually your friends. That is a good point though I guess.

There is one downside I can think of for buying it digital if you have a New 3DS: The SD-card slot is on the inside of the console, so you have to take a tiny screwdriver and undo the back in order to get it out if you want to put it in another 3DS or swap it out or something (but you're probably never going to do either of those things so really that's just a hypothetical).

I bought physical for the pin and because I've had more SD cards fail than Nintendo QA'd game cartridges. Until Capcom gives us some external tool for making backups (never), I'll stick to the better track record option. Mostly for the pin though.

I personally just want GS-Fast Edition though, and that's exactly what SA gives me. It should be called SwitchSword. I also love the idea of unfolding a gigantic fuckoff greatsword like its a pocketknife. That's so metal.

SwitchAxes are really cool and a lot of fun. It wasn't as much of a resource managing weapon as charge blade is I guess, but you get really sweet reach, and mobility in axe mode, and great burst damage in sword mode. Plus both modes have a a way to just burst down idiots when given the opportunity (wild axes/phail burst). People who treat it like a weird greatsword didn't use it to it full potential.

Also Seregios was a cool fight. I tried to fight him with chargeblade, a weapon Im not comfortable with, and died. Then I fought him with great sword and it was a lot less difficult. But really bleeding is a terrible effect oh my god I hate it.

I tend to use it more in axe mode than sword mode but when I do use it in sword mode, back the gently caress up, I'm going to town on this motherfucker. That's the beauty of Switch Axe, if you prefer one mode over another, they're both completely viable to use near-100% of the time if you really want to.

Yeah I'm not sure that the people who say axe mode is useless really understand the versatility of the switch axe. Sword mode is powerful sure, but the combination of reach, mobility, and power the axe gives is kind of ridiculous. Need that tail? Oh sure I'll just stand back here, swing up, sidestep, swing up some more, rinse & repeat. Combo into sword mode when the monster flinches or gives an opening, sidestep out when he turns to face you. Basically leveraging both modes lets you apply constant pressure while staying mobile. Only sheath if the monster runs away or if you're a huge pussy. e;fb Chumpy fucked around with this message at 00:27 on Feb 24, 2015 |
