Wow. Watching this right after listening to ' N-O-T Farts and Procreations 4' was a bad idea. It was a real C+ episode to cap off a real C+ season, which was as unexpected as the tears after my apathy towards the last few years of the show. Whatever these guys do next they should just do it all as one big final season from pilot to finale. Hell, pitch it with an end date built in.

Great Finale. The heart was in loving right place. I am temping to move P&R to my all time favorite comedy tie with Seinfeld.

Finale was amazing, but weirdly someone in my house kept cutting onions all during the episode. Anyways, you were loved and will be missed P&R.

Really enjoyed this finale. Sad to see the show go but it's better than slowly becoming terrible. I like how they did the secret service at Garry's funeral and let it for the viewer to decide. (I'm just going to view it as President Knope.) It makes for a really nice ending to the character.

I was holding it together until the scene with the Secret Service before tearing up and crying for the rest of the finale. I found this show in the beginning of season 3 and it has been wonderful to me. The finale was incredibly beautiful and that's honestly the first time I've ever lost my emotions like that to a show/movie. I'm going to miss everything about this show and the amazing people in it. I don't know the next time a show will be this good and I'm not worthy.

I too began to listen to "Farts and Procreation", but after Harris passed away, which made the ending even more It was a great finale for a great TV show, and it felt incredibly good to see how these characters grew, specially when Ann and Chris showed up

Me, sometime last week: Heh, I'll bet they'll do a flash-forward during the finale to like, 2020 or so. Me, 10:05 PM tonight:

That was a really good season finale, as other people have said this whole last season really was a fantastic save after the the last few and it's great to see it go out on such a high. I didn't quite buy Ron accepting a senior position in Federal Government, one he's not qualified for and out of charity no less but I thought most of the flash forwards did a great job of seeing off the characters in funny and believable ways; Tom continuing to fail upwards (he commissioned a documentary on his own failure!) and Gary becoming mayor for life were highlights for me (oh and of course Jean-Ralphio's 'successful' insurance scam, really thought I'd called it with his untimely death though)

I'm so glad we got to see Anne Perkins one last time. I admit I wanted to see April become a nurse. Loved most of the flash-forwards including Gary's, Craig's and Ron's. So what did Andy end up doing? Did Ron stay married to Xena?

No Orin, finale gets an F. But no, wonderful end to a series that unexpectedly became my favourite show on television. Really hope there isn't a long period before I see everyone involved on new projects, especially Amy who I can't believe at one point I didn't think she was the most awesome person ever.

A great finale. I appreciate that Parks and Rec and 30 Rock had the same basic arc, and same problems. They were shows that wanted to be about the characters' goals and aspirations, but got stuck being unable to change the status quo because they're sitcoms. Then, given a final season to finally move things forward, the quality shot way up. I hope this leads people to rethink sitcoms and recognize that you can actually have their characters grow and change in a comedy. Or just do the Arrested Development thing of demonstrating how they trap themselves in the same lovely cycles forever, but even Arrested Development ends with a dramatic moment of growth.

I almost wish there was a season limit on US tv comedies, i just find that they fizzle out after one or two seasons, Glee, New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine all were great at some point but are now just mediocre at best.

One neat, if a bit unsurprising thing revealed in the finale was that Ben and Leslie are Democrats. Not that I was expecting otherwise but for a show about politics it always did a really good job of never bringing up Democrats vs. Republicans, and Leslie's party affiliation was always this odd elephant in the room for me. Also this was the best finale ever for the best show ever, it deserves to be said again.

It does not surprise me that Leslie is not a Republican because she is not evil or bad.

At first I thought it was the wrong call for Leslie to run for governor. After bombing the city council position, it seemed clear that elected office wasn't for her. But then I realized that was her Icetown . . . and I think Ben was thinking the same thing. One thing I didn't get: in the flash forward where Tom has lost everything down to his pocket squares and is holed up on the couch, why are they still living in a super nice place and why was Lucy all dressy? Do we know what she does? Karmine posted:One neat, if a bit unsurprising thing revealed in the finale was that Ben and Leslie are Democrats. You think it was a coincidence her heroes are Joe Biden, Madeleine Albright, and Hillary Clinton (whose hair she stole for the graduation speech btw)?

As sweet and tolerant as she is, I don't think Leslie could marry someone whose views were the fundamental opposite of hers - Ben's definitely also a democrat. Am I crazy for thinking old man Ben looked an awful lot like Joe Biden? Super quick and dirty comparison I threw together. No wonder Ben caught her eye. She knew where that was going.

I loved the finale, and though I'm typically rather loose with my emotions, I didn't tear up once. It didn't really impact me. And then, when the show actually wrapped... I lost sleep over this show being gone. I started this show from episode 1, and I haven't missed an episode since. I've grown up with this show. Even when things were down for me, Parks was always up. I've seen many shows come and go, and have never felt this way over any of them before. There was just something really special about a show that was centered around both comedy, and positive relationships. Bye Bye, Parks And Recreation. Oh and, for gently caress's sake, Harris

I'm going to be in the minority here, but while the last episode (and the last season) was a touching and brightly optimistic few hours of television, it wasn't really Parks & Recreation. It was more like friend fanfiction as written by Leslie Knope. The show was at its finest filling in pits, having public forums, and dealing with local flu outbreaks. The last season wasn't even on the same planet. (And when did Ron decide to swear off using contractions?) Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it. It just felt like an alternate universe.

I'm not saying that in a dickish way, but shows that try to be themselves for their finale or last season can kinda of end up in a weird place that doesn't feel like it got closure. The regular episodes are great and can neatly wrap up little morsels of stories here and there but the Pawnee universe is pretty big and needed to be adequately ended. The writers, correctly in my opinion, saw that it became more about the characters and respecting their ends ... the typical P&R jokes played second fiddle and seemed to be only inserted sparingly. The episode was definitely not as funny as a normal episode, but it was probably the most satisfying series finale I've seen in a long time.
