Speaking of chicken-like creatures, Froome won the Ruta Del Sol.

On right now, Oleg Tinkov talking about business in Russia on Bloomberg.

Edit: waste of time, he moaned about sanctions then when given the chance to talk about the team it was used as a spring board to moan more about sanctions again. According to him Russia did not invaded the Ukraine.

Fun video from the Tour of Oman:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSv9WKOyHCA&t=32s

You can hear inner tubes exploding and then hear Eddy Merckx exploding while Tommeke and Spartacus look at him like the crazy great uncle who has made a scene at a family gathering.

L'Equipe is reporting that the UCI has asked for Astana's racing license to be withdrawn, based on the report from the independent audit of the team they commissioned at the beginning of the year.

Agreed here. I sort of dig everyone having a go at the record (I'd really like to see how Cancellara would go as well) but at some point you want someone to set a proper benchmark with the new rules and Martin would be the guy to do it.

The Equipe article suggests that this is how Astana thought it was going to go down, and then the audit team started making serious requests for information and Astana commenced to making GBS threads their pants and trying to stonewall.

In addition, the Italian authorities have provided the UCI with the sections of the Padova investigation which it has been authorized to share. As some evidence concerns Astana Pro Team members, the file has been passed to the Licence Commission as part of this referral.

Does Martin have any sort of track history? I'm a big Martin fan and if anyone could do it right now, it would be him far and away, but being used to keeping the line/turning left/never stopping pedalling can be big benefits.

Wiggins and Martin are the only two I really want to see have a go. Wiggins because of his track history and that he'd spend all year getting ready for it so absolutely do his best, and Martin because hes a machine and I love watching him destroy people.

One of his arguments for the old setup was to compare himself to Merckx. Well, if you can't beat Wiggins or Martin, you probably can't beat Merckx, specialized position or no.

Does Wiggins or Merckx have more experience on the track?

Wiggins I think?

Merckx rode track for fun and enjoyment in the offseason, being Belgian, (and to stack more wins). So he did Madison/points race/etc.

Wiggins started in track and specifically trained for pursuit. So his is a more direct transfer.

But Merckx is literally the bike Terminator from the future so ymmv.

I don't know about the doping, but definately the level of professionalism had something to do with his dominance. It's the same for all sports, Nascar, baseball, cricket etc etc.
