Yeah, Gauntlet Mode is definitely designed to be "post-game" content. Although a character with a SW-style Musou attack and Osmosis 10 can potentially run around invulnerable for a good long time.

So is there any word on how officer locations work? I'm a prefect under another ruler, and I made a point to invite Yu Jin from Free Officer into a lieutenant, supposedly in my territory, but I can't choose him in a list of participants when I go to invade or raid. What am I missing

^^^ I'm mostly interested in their tactic from their title. I think Calm Traitors might get something useful like Scout or Rumors, but I don't remember off hand. Speaking of, my Little Conqueror title changed last night to Saint and now I have the Compassion command. But no matter how low the happiness of my neighbors, I can never use the command (which says it's specifically to invite low happiness regions to my kingdom). What gives? Man, the last Empires games I really played were 7 a bit and principally Samurai Warriors 2, this one is so different from what I'm used to. I don't even know how half the custom poo poo works yet. Like, what the hell is the unit thing? How does that even actually work in the game, since it seems to be building an army. Is that literally a faction creator?

How do the visiting officers/factions work on the PC anyway? I saw the setting to turn them off, but I'm more curious as to where they come from. It is kind of neat to see other people's officers randomly show up (and I hope mine shows up for others at some point), though I do wish I could remove some of the dumb ones like "WWWWWW" or "New Officer".

They'll just turn up, quietly, in and around your games, as long as you have the options set to allow them to show up(You pick at the start of a new campaign). You can set who'll they'll appear in place of-famous guys, generics, and none at all. On the bolded: who did you make? I'll keep an eye out. I have more player created factions in my game now than I had kingdoms at the start of the Yellow Turban Rebellion. My first created faction was to put the Dragon Age Inquisition cast into the game, and one of the first created guys I got visiting me was another Solas. I think I did the better job. I think I did the best job recreating Varric, though. One faction that's visiting me is something like 8 different Valkyries. Okay so my Fixed Strategy is supposedly "Supply Request", but the only political/military move I can do that involves getting supplies is Levy--which procures them from the people but makes them more upset at me. I'm of neutral virtue for right now (and sort of want to keep it that way), so I'm wondering when this strategy can kick in. Edit: Never mind, I think I figured it out. As a prefect, I had to first take the strategic task (during the war council) to request supplies, then it became an option under Schemes. It let me select another kingdom to negotiate with--along with one called "EarthRealm" owned by "Raiden"...?! Morter fucked around with this message at 00:04 on Feb 28, 2015 |

They were supposed to be used by Shu to retrieve supplies before the fields were overrun, but the whole campaign was rained out, so historically they did nothing but get bogged down in mud. That's just military use. It's quite likely that farmers used them for ages before Zhuge Liang was born.

I have to say that DW8:E is the first Empires game I've been initially disappointed with. I got the digital PS3 version and the textures in battle are terribly bad. I don't understand how the graphics can be worse than in the previous entry. And the vast majority of the edit mode options are taken from DW7:E. My favourite part of Empires is playing Ancient Chinese Barbies and a lack of new outfits is incredibly lazy. It feels like a step back in a lot of areas. But I'm enjoying the new customisation options like banners and soldiers. And the actual empire building part of the game seems to have been significantly expanded, so it's not all bad. What's the deal with officers leaving/rebelling against your kingdom? Is it purely based on your friendship rating with the officers in question? Should I be hosting a few banquets at the beginning of a campaign to prevent it happening? It sucks spending a couple of hours putting a team together only to have your best buddy try and stab you in the back five months into a game.
