You can get a 7th Ed. mini rulebook for around $25 on eBay.

Omar al-Bishie posted:so is there an affordable way to get my hands on 7 Ed rules? I bought the starter kit years ago and it came with a little book. There are three versions of the 7e rules minibooks; one in the repackaged Dark Vengeance starter set, and one in each of the newer campaign sets. If you ask around locally, there's likely someone who has more than one of the mini books and would be willing to sell them cheaply, or you can check ebay but they might be more expensive than you'd like there.

Take Hercules, the Masterpiece Devastator 3rd party combiner(before the newly-announced Hasbro Titan-Class Devastator was revealed). $400. Some folks think that's too much for a toy, so there's a knockoff that's serviceable that's $60. Original KO I'd take the slight quality hit in exchange for the far cheaper price, pretty much every time. Captain Invictus fucked around with this message at 01:44 on Mar 1, 2015 |

You pretty much auto-lose combat even to junk like Assault Marines unless you heavily invest in a baller HQ unit/end up with Zealot as a warlord trait. Wraiths are bangin though, bring more Wraiths. Necrons have great counter chargers in wraiths, lynchguard, and praetorians (now that the later are cheaper). At least warriors get the Reanimation Protocols before the checks for the leadership. A destroyer lord for preferred enemy and assault defense might help as well.

I'm not asking for knockoff contact information here, incidentally, I was just curious if GW had eradicated them in the few years I stopped paying attention to Warhammer since around that time there had just started to pop up a ton of dudes replicating the Forgeworld Dreadnoughts for like 25 bucks each. Short answer no, it's an entire industry now

I've already shelled out a significant amount of money for models, paints, etc. I feel zero sympathy for downloading the rulebooks for armies I don't even own, I already own hard copies of the Rulebook(and the 2 others from the set) and the Space Marine Codex. I understand companies need to make money and such, and I will continue to buy a vast majority of models new and directly from them, that being said...if a model appears on Ebay, reasonably priced, and fully-painted I could care less where it originally came from. Heck, I am already so lost to this game after starting 7 months ago, that I own an Inquisition Dice Bag and a Servo-Skull tape measure...KILL ME! Ettin posted:SA is not really the forum for discussing how to make knockoffs anyway I am not really curious because I want an avenue to buy cheap stuff, but because these models are so highly detailed it seems like a shitload of effort goes into making the molds(or whatever is used) and aside from stealing them from the company or having some process that allows you make one using existing models, it seems like it would take a lot of work. That, or require a large infrastructure, I have no clue how big the machinery is that even creates these things.

I got given (well, sold for a couple of beers) a recast of an Eldar Lynx Superheavy - it's actually better quality than the other Forgeworld stuff I have (being cast in heavier resin with no bubbles, but more cancer probably) - and the only way you could tell it's not an original is: it's heavier to pick up, and the canopy was opaque. So, whenever I see models with the clear-bits painted solid, I automatically think 'That's a fake'

Got my first game of 7th ed. in today; first game in over two years. Question: Flyer gets crew stunned by a LR Vanquisher (I know) 18" right in front of it. Does it wreck next turn, or does crew stunned mean it has to go at least 18" but can go more? Also: Any good non-GW source for terrain?

It makes no sense to me, and a couple paragraphs below it talks about how ramming vehicles are automatically moved to be an inch away from flyer bases.

That WarDream drama was unreal. Nerds, man. I can't imagine the recasters will ever go away, even if GW somehow burned all their own manufacturing to the ground and salted the (40K) earth tomorrow. Frankly, I'm really wondering how much this rumored 'Limited Edition Units' thing for Fantasy is going to increase their business.
