Yeah Hsiens are nice but generally you'll want like, one, and even then at the higher point scales. They're good but loving pricey as poo poo. +1 to PZs recommendations, especially the REMs.

Pierzak posted:Helpful Imperial Stuff Thanks! Your advice helped significantly when I was building my Combined and this looks stellar as well. Just have a few questions to flesh out that list of suggestions. Are you recommending the first ninja I pick up be the Sniper? Bao troops seem like they would be an extremely expensive link as you pointed out but how do they do as MSV2 singles? My group brings as much ODD and Camo as they can fit into a list and I get nervous having only one MSV on the board.

No. Get a ninja hacker instead because: - I found Shasvastii specialists invaluable in CA and there's no point wasting that AVA slot on a sniper in such a spec-starved faction as the ISS - MSRs have better range and worse close-range bands, so infiltrating snipers are worse. Other nice sniper options: - single Bao (MSV2, possible combo with KSCD smoke) - bounty Hunter (cheap, SWC-cheap, still gives board control) - Dakini (mimetism, give it Enhanced Reactions and it becomes a major PITA) - Sun Tze 2.0 (but obvious and expensive) - CG (only for a defensive link) - Pheasant agent (conflicted about that) - remember that the sniper loadout now gets an MSV1! Also, single MSV? Why are you not running 2+ Yaoxie? Pierzak fucked around with this message at 20:04 on Feb 28, 2015 |

I'd like to get into Infinity but with all the editions, books, campaigns, packs, starters, free pdfs and whatnot I'm a complete loss where to begin. All I know is Yu-Jing seem cool, soo how do I start?

http://infinitythegame.com/start.php Play 2 or 3 games using 3 -5 models using the profiles to get the flow of the game down. Then read this. If you run into some special rule that isn't in there that is on a model that you want to use, ask for the other PDF's: Human Sphere and Campaign Paradiso. There are a few people working on compilations, but seriously start small and add the special rules after you get how to play the basic game. http://infinitythegame.com/archivo/%5BENG%5D_Rules.pdf Here are the army lists, too. http://infinitythegame.com/archivo/%5BENG%5D_Unit_Profiles.pdf http://infinitythegame.com/archive.php Cyberpunkey Monkey fucked around with this message at 00:53 on Mar 1, 2015 |

Thank you soo much Are the starter packs good value for money or should I rather buy whichever models I like piecemeal?

Generally speaking they're decent buy ins for newer players but they're not balanced for playing against each other. If you like the models in a starter box go for it! if not there's nothing wrong with buying things by the blister. Some sculpts though are only available via starter boxes.

Yeah, the NCA starter is like 226 points with the vanilla PanO being 120-ish.

We could also advise additional purchases based on mechanics if you can first pick out some miniatures based on aesthetics. You can play pretty much anything in this game as long as it's supported with other pieces that cover your favorite units' weaknesses.

It will probably be the longest first turn followed by very short 2nd and 3rd turns. Adding Impetuous Smoke Grenade-dudes (daturazi/Oznat) might protect them on your turn, but you'd still need to add regular orders for them to reach the enemy. Currently they get 2 orders each, which doesn't get them anywhere.

Suppressive fire is nice and all, but I dont see how you will kill 32 figures before they are on top of you and hitting with CC 19, DM 14 with AP. Also when they die, they have explode 1. Not to mention if youw ant to go suppressive, its a full order.

Explode triggers on Unconcoius not the Dead state. I love Hungries and use them all the time but effective use of combined orders and suppresive fire, mines, and you opponent using bait models to pull your guys into killzones will be brutal. Not saying the list would not work at all but any half decent list could give it a drat good run for it's money.

They'll be eating 1-2 ARO shots per order. More if there's Total Reaction or suppressive fire guys on the table. As they all home into closest enemy, they tend to clump together. In these conditions explosive is a liability. When they go unconscious to an ARO, they'll take their comrades with them. a Massive chain-reaction even! But good luck for the try. Your best change is that your opponent doesn't know what to do with millions of hungries facing them.

# ? Mar 1, 2015 09:12 |

BTW: Is there any Regular+Impetious troops with AVA:TOTAL that could make this kind of list to work? Most of these Impetious fodders are either irregulars or have limited AVA. Closest I know are Kuang Shi:s for ISS and they're AVA:8, which isn't enough.

Daturazi are E:Impetious and Regular. Have Mimetism and Martial Arts Lvl4 as well being Total. Oh, and the Smoke grenades that land on a roll of 17. The Cheapest loadout is 14 points but you can still bring them by the truck loads and they have ways of covering their own advance.

Sounds good, even if they cost a lot. I've only faced 4 at a time and they were pretty scary. 16 Daturazi = 224 Which would leave 76 points for 3 specialists to complete missions and 1 ltn. Probably doable and there would be 36 orders to use. I'm tempted to proxy this out and die gloriously for the Morat Aggression Force. EDIT: Or just add maximum of 4+4 hungries for 40p and forego mission specialists! Issaries fucked around with this message at 09:50 on Mar 1, 2015 |

Correct in that Supression fire is a full order. However with most of your army being E:Impetious and the enemy getting an ARO off of each of you models activation's in LoS along with not being able to benefit from cover as well as lacking any mimetism or ways of covering their advance you are going to see most of, if not all your bugs eat lead. If you want to massively boost your threat with these guys throw in a few Daturazi for smoke grenades.

LumberingTroll posted:I'm sorry for asking? You should probably go outside and take in some fresh air. I've done a scenario game at my FLSG vs. a 800 point version of that list (with a Hungry Queen thing and about 60 hungries) and utterly wrecked it with a single fusilier link team backed by two full reaction Dronbots. I never touched the rest of my points. Gakis/Hungries are cheap shock troops you use to supplement your CA group, to make the enemy react and deal with them while you are doing other things. Building a whole list of them and then trying to defend it as "No trust me guys it will work" just shows you are new to Infinity and need to learn the ropes, as it were.

You see that type of list crop up from Caledonia now and then and they die to sup fire just wrecking them, it's great on paper but doesn't translate into reality. As Laphroaig said though, what makes them good is the ability to be a small cluster to dedicate resources to while the rest of your list gets poo poo done.

Speaking of learning the ropes, what's the best way to make use of cheap HI like the Terracotta Soldiers? Cheap HI-heavy lists seem like a cool thing because Terracottas are cool but they're not good enough to Rambo and not cheap enough to cheerlead and have no fancy frills. I can guess they're actually pretty good for something I'm just not good enough to know what.
