Look, if you had one shot
or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted
in one moment
Would you capture it...
or just let it slip?

That's Manjimup, it gets a little "duelling banjos" down there. My Dad is originally from there, and apparently some of his ex-school mates from the 1960's still haven't been to Perth yet.

It's different down there, that's for sure... it feels as though it's a lot further from Perth than it really is.

Can be quite pretty though -

Both the red wall in the first photo and the rocks in the bottom left of the second photo are about 5 feet high, and the rocks in the background of each are about 60 feet high.

Really love that first one, for some reason they both remind me of A Trip to the Moon (yeah, the 1902 French film).

Oh

And that's the reason why every second place in WA ends with an "up". No one ever pronounces Joondalup properly the first time.

I promise to have some terrible pictures to post soon, rather than just having lovely anecdotes after every deaders post.

Actually "up" means "place of" in the local indigenous language. Lots of areas in the south west of WA have aboriginal names.

I dig that you decided to show the ad in this one. Your environments are pretty stark and they work really well for the shot being about this big bright fuckoff ad screaming for the attention of the dude at the bus stop.

So that is the place of Jim's man? This is only funny to me because my IRL name is Jim, sorry to bust on your extraordinarily dangerous homeland.

Well to be a nerd about it, it's actually pronounced Man-ji-mup, rather than Man-jim-up, and apparently derived from a plant name: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/-up
