For 70's-80's vibe I think it might be too straight-on, angle-wise? Or at least the wall behind it messes up the effect for me. I think of that era of food photo as weird top-down photos of insane spreads, or essentially 3/4 profile shots of ham-hocks.

I also should have cranked the vibrancy and contrast too but as much as I love that old school stuff I can't bring myself to go that far. The more I look at the photo the less pleased I am with the half-assedness of it. Definitely needs more grapes and and crystal chalices. I guess as a child of that era it is also a bit of nostalgia.

Right, it's like they collectively decided that old still life paintings were the aesthetic but without the symbolism, and done with velvia.

Just wrapped up a shoot for a friend, it was a taster menu for Game of Thrones themed dinner. This a bacon beef tart and apparently spiced in a very traditional medieval fashion.
