Tears To Tiara II is fuckin' solid, wordy as hell but it's a VN so that's what you get. It's got decently creative maps later on too.

the novel the original megami tensei game was based on loki rapes about five women in it like the novel basically goes 'plot beat, loki rape, plot beat, loki rape, plot beat, loki rape, plot beat, loki rape, plot beat, loki rape, ending'

# ? Mar 2, 2015 02:04 |

which is weird because of the entire norse pantheon loki is the least rapey he hosed that horse with its consent

Loki was pretty weird overall in the novels. Wasn't he also a slime monster that went around crushing dude's heads?

That's loving awesome, it'd be sweet to get game adaptations of that crazy BS. Without the piles of rapes.

Million Ghosts posted:That's loving awesome, it'd be sweet to get game adaptations of that crazy BS. Without the piles of rapes. Nah, there's a lot of batshit crazy stuff but it's all bad batshit crazy stuff. Nothing makes sense, the writing is atrocious, it's basically really bad Go Nagai horror manga fanfic. (Which the games kind of are too) The original Megami Tensei game basically was a game adaption of the first three novels--actually it was supposed to be a sequel, never mind that the hero and heroine both die at the end of the third book--but there's so little in it that's actually game-worthy that what we got was probably the closest we could get. And it was a really bad game too.

I remember being a kid and looking at games at Blockbuster, except my store had the anime movies next to the games so instead of Hey You Pikachu I got a prepubescent load of box covers where anime girls had their tits wrapped in thorny vines and orifices getting googley eyed by monsters and demons. What a weird time that was.

Yakuza games are pretty much ARPGs mixed in with major manly drama, shirtless fights and punching tigers. You can't lose.

Yeah, I had a store that did that too. La Blue Girl and Legend of the Overfiend were literally right next to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Batman. Weird as poo poo.

Suncoast, before it died, did that as well. It was right next to the cashier spot so you really couldn't miss it. Which was weird, because the anime section like DBZ and Inu Yasha was on the complete opposite wall, like 30 feet away. edit: Now I'm getting PTSD of the days of 3 episodes/30 dollar dvds

They put it in it a spot over near the genre section in my video store and didn't carry anything like La Blue Girl. Mostly stuff like Akira and Venus Wars. I had a sheltered life as a kid I guess.
