(previous 2 came in while I was typing my reply)I check the system she is referring to, seems fine.. probably a network congestion issue at her location so I reply
:catstare: Seems to be running normally, are you at a company location or are you remote so I can look at network issues?
:byodood: YES
:catstare: What location are you at, also it is month end and that can cause temporary performance issues with everyone running reports.
:byodood: NO START AGAIN. tHANKS
:byodood: (screen shot of a invalid password box)
:byodood: Working now. Thanks

I don't know if this is a joke or.. wow.. I have no words.

Seriously, if I could keep my current salary but do something chill like facility management I would be so much happier.

Our previous facility manager was the chillest guy ever, but then he retired and management decided not to replace him but have the landlord call a subcontractor every time a toilet overflows or a lightbulb breaks. :(

I've given up asking questions that have 'or' in them for exactly this reason. I don't understand what's so confusing about it.

I recently had the chance to flip through an Oracle 6 book and a bunch of For Dummies series books on Win 98 and NT 3.5. As someone who was still in grade school when that stuff was in use, it was fascinating. Specifically, the NT 3.5 book explained a lot of questions I didn't know to ask about design choices in Win OS.

It's outdated, but still useful for learners.

The CDs included also tend to at least have neat things to play around with.

 yeah, I totally spaced on the quit portion of that. But dang, where I live you can get unemployment for being fired for anything short of malicious intent, like if you got fired because you deliberately tried to kill someone or ruin the company or something. Basically, if they can't prove you knew what you were doing was bad, you could get unemployment.

People see "Are you on system X or system Y?" and think "Are you on either system X or system Y?" It's really dumb, but people have a habit of just adding in words when they read things.

Why not both? And a coin with a picture of a gun on one side and a flask on the other. Then when someone e-mails you to let you know that e-mail is down you can flip the coin and decide if you are going to hunt them down like a dog, or just drink.

That's...amazing.

During the brief time I dual-booted an HP Mini 311 as a hackintosh, space was at a premium and I actually was one of those people who uninstalled a bunch of language packs. "English? Why would I need that? I'm never going to England."

It caused fun errors where every package that tried to verify would fail because the script I used (not knowing any better) reached in and just modified everything.

That said, now I have an MBA with a sane amount of storage and no need to dual-boot.

I'm just being pedantic, but Outlook Express used .dbx files. Regular Outlook uses .pst files, and .ost files are for local caching when connected to Exchange (and IMAP in 2013.)

Yeah, and you can't use Bitlocker if they aren't on on Ultimate or Enterprise.

The guy who had my job before me did scattershot Win 7 deployments, and now that we're trying to full-disk encryption across the board, it's a 50/50 chance if he used our Enterprise license or just modified the Dell Win 7 Professional OEM. :argh:
