I don't have a strong opinion about FNAF but I have to say this one looks like a genuinely tense game with its multiple floors, vents, and needing to reboot systems. The animatronic actually feels like a stalker rather than an obstacle you have to constantly watch. I still think this guy could make a fantastic first person horror adventure game.

I like Markiplier. Dude's a genuinely friendly guy and you can tell he loves doing what he does - the fact he does charity work, etc, as well helps. He's not just a dude gurning into the camera all the time or nor, like Harshly Critical, does he break down and bitch incessantly about anyone that gives him negative feedback. At any rate, FNAF 3 already out! http://store.steampowered.com/app/354140/ I'm not playing this at 2am in the loving morning.

Yeah if someone wants to post about what the new mechanics are like and why people are freaking out upthread that would be cool, I have no patience for video walk-throughs.

Markiplier is a handsome guy with a great voice who should be in radio or narrating commercials. All of the Did You Know Gaming videos with him are great. Then he puts on his act and I'm just like "Why do you do this?" And he counts his advertising dollars from Youtube and it all makes sense in the end.

The "persona" he uses for FNaF is so grating and he looks so much like John Romero that I really don't care to see anything more by the guy. I'll just wait for HarshlyCritical's inevitable playthrough because there's no way I'm watching more than a minute or two of a guy SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS AND NEVER PAUSING FOR BREATH OR STOPPING AT ALL HE JUST KEEPS ON GOING. The vast majority of YouTube LPers have no idea when to shut the gently caress up and let the game do its thing. It's like they're getting paid by the word and get deductions for dead air.

They can watch silent LPs of games anywhere, they're watching these guys cause they like the people. It really doesn't matter what game they play. So what's this game about? Something about a "mangler" that's like a Frankenstein's monster assimilating the old Freddy animatronics?

The pizza chain has finally died for good but some enterprising dipshits have scavenged the old animatronics and gotten them all in one building to create a haunted-house attraction, with the player character now doubling as the security guard "character" and an actual security guard. The entire first day seems to be nothing but a tutorial to acclimate yourself to the place's layout, but on Day 2 your dipshit boss manages to hunt down and install one of the original remnant animatronics, which is presumably Bonnie/Spring Trap. Spring Trap then spends the rest of the game busily trying to murder you, as is its wont. Beyond that it looks like the sheer psychic anguish of all the animatronic parts stockpiled in the place causes routine hallucinations and interface fuckups if you don't keep your eyes on the cameras and the ventilation running. The ghosts distract you while Spring Trap closes in for the kill.

It can be surprisingly difficult to find no-commentary and reasonably well done playthroughs of most games. Everyone is so hot and hard to jump on the twitchbux and tubedollars that there's just a gross rash of facecam plays. I can see why these guys do it, and I appreciate more genuine people like HarshlyCritical, but good lord does it get tiresome to see outside of the speedrun scene.

The bulk of the audience for these "youtube personalities" are teenagers and pre-teens. Pewdiepie is basically a children's show entertainer. It's free, and vaguely risqué. They aren't bored of scare cams because they haven't been alive long enough to get bored of scare cams. They like stupid jokes and mugging for the camera because they're children.

It's impressive how many people playing seem to have no idea what to do. Then again, I've watched a couple of vids so far and I'm kinda lost myself. Is the audio alert supposed to lure Spring Trap elsewhere? The previous games felt like an exercise in plate-spinning, but this one looks like a complete trial-and-error sim.

I really hope Scott ends it here as this is probably as far as you can go now unless he makes another prequel. The entire game just seems to be busy work until you don't get the jump scares even more than the first two.

Fojar38 posted:I can't find anything on the endings, can anyone spoiler them? There's more of those chintzy Atari-esque sequences between missions. They seem to depict the Purple Man being trapped in the restaurant somehow and systematically dismantling each of the mascot suits. The final one has you playing as the ghost of a kid, who's gotten together with the other ghosts - who apparently still exist despite the suits being destroyed - and cornered the Purple Man in the women's restroom of the restaurant. The Purple Man attempts to do what the Phone Guy recommended in the first game and hide inside the last remaining costume, which looks like Bonnie. Apparently the suits' inner workings can be spring-compressed to allow people to fit inside, but this one was rigged so the springs popped back after the suit was put on, mangling the Purple Man and trapping his corpse in the suit - hence, Spring Trap. You've been evading the murderer's vengeful corpse the whole time. What a twist. The end.

Wow, FNAF3 sounds pretty goofy. The haunted house theme makes it sound like a parody of the series up to this point. Eh, but it's still gonna sell a bunch, so good for it. The game still sounds as tense as the previous two.
