Nick Cater has a point. Who among you poors can say truthfully that you haven't lopped off a limb or drunk draino just because you know that some honest aussie taxpayer like me will have to foot the bill for it? Or, for the long-suffering moral crusaders among us (i.e. those scraping by on a mere $300k a year) - I ask you, how many times have you tried driving your merc to your yacht on the weekend only to find that the criminally-underfunded federal highways have been blockaded yet again by just another weekend self-mutilation rally?

http://cleantechnica.com/2015/01/14/deutsche-bank-predicts-solar-grid-parity-80-global-market-2017/ Sometimes I get worried about climate change again and feel the need to look for a little bit of good news in the sea of policy immobility, terrifying sea ice updates and lobbying by giant oil companies. There was also a nice one about china's coal use actually falling last year for the first time in 2 decades (10% drop in imports!)

Was listening to the Senate, and this delightful tale raised its head: http://www.abc.net.au/pm/content/2015/s4160101.htm Basically, a new prison was built in Darwin, and inmates transferred there, meanwhile the youth detention center had some escapees and was deemed unfit to be used. So of course the logical thing to do was to chuck a bunch of kids in a dilapidated 20 year old adult prison designed for maximum security. quote:The building itself should not be even considered by any remotely civilised government to be used to now be used as a facility to detain young offenders. It's a ridiculous proposition. The place has been described by the director of Corrections as fit for a bulldozer. There's a complete lack of professionalism.
