Tide posted:Nice job! The trade was HVAC. We had 4 stations, each with a different problem, the first was an electrical problem, we were given the problem, and has 20 minutes to solve it. In this station the problem was that the unit would come on, hum for a few seconds, and shut off. The problem was that the capacitor was wired incorrectly Station two was a brazing contest. We had to bend some tubing, and join it together. We had to to do two 90 bends, a loop, a pinch off, and join two different sizes of tubing. The third station was a salad cooler, which had a different electrical problem, I'm not sure what the actual problem was intended to be, cause when I did it the extension cord powering it was messed up. I think the problem was supposed to be with a relay. And the final station, we had to do a pumpdown on a walk-in cooler, and replace a filter on it. Which was easy enough, pump all the refrigerant into the receiver, cut the filter out, pop a new one in, braze it up, vacuum, and open the valves back up. This one sucked though, not caused it was hard, but hey gave everyone 45 minutes to do this one, so this why the day was so long. We also had a 50 question test, similar to an EPA test. The other thing that sucked about the day was that we weren't allowed to use our phones, and supposedly, weren't supposed to be talking to each other, but they didn't enforce that. Thanf God too, cause we spent at least 3 hours just sitting there waiting for everyone else to finish.

Day off so drove my landy around. Drivers door latch has started playing up meaning that when you turn hard left the door swings open and then slams itself again as you keep turning. Shits me up every time! - I have clearly got soft from too much car driving! It used to do this when I first got it 15 years ago and was too poor to replace the latches when a bungee strap would work. It now has anti burst latches which I thought were supposed to not do this. Oh hey tomarse, I got in touch with the MAB as you advised, on first glance they thrash my bank with a lower rate for a mortgage 9 years shorter, on a 15% deposit like I need so I'll be checking that out in detail tomorrow, thanks buddy.

No problem! You now owe me a beer once you have moved! I wish I'd gone to them a couple of years earlier as I could have saved 40k on my house. I actually got laughed at by a mortgage guy when I previously tried to get a mortgage back when I was 21 and self employed with a company with bugger all trading history. I almost ended up being a water pikey! (you can get a loan on a boat)

InitialDave posted:60 mile round trip? Consider electric. What is this, Automotive Sanity? It's 60 miles round and I was kinda umming and ahhing about an electric car. My main concern is I don't own my own home and if prices carry on the way they are I won't do for a long time, so I've no guarantee I'll have somewhere to charge the thing in the future, plus I'm about to switch jobs and there's currently no charging stations anywhere near my new place. If I had some long-term security in my living situation I'd be on that in a heartbeat. I have a diesel at the moment but it's getting to the point of being uneconomical to repair and I'm bored as poo poo of it so now seems like as good a time as any to switch. I know diesel will save me a packet in fuel but working on them myself scares the crap out of me, non-DI petrol is like a warm comforting blanket of familiarity. Anyway I'm just spitballing, I think secretly I want a hot hatch but don't wanna condemn it to a life of miserable commuting.

On the train in this morning, I heard a guy with terrible (Apple) earbuds in with his music turned all the way up. It sounded familiar, so I listened for a second before putting my headphones on. I realised then that the world must be ending, because it's 2015 and he was listening to Limp Bizkit. psyduck_exploding_psyducks.gif

Well I quit my job working on the F-150/250/350 frame assembly. It got to the point where they were making it a mandatory 12 hour shift 7 days a week. Good money but drat, I need a day off once in a while. So I got a job working for Bendix. I now help assemble and quality inspect brake systems for commercial trucks. Better pay (I started out @ 14/hr) with weekends off.

Thanks everyone, I feel the love. Really looking forward to getting out of the refinery work and into commercial/industrial HVAC and controls where I belong, and this is my first step in that process. Super Aggro Crag posted:Nice man. They do a LOT of work in Western MA. What's their rate if you don't mind me asking? I honestly don't know exactly since I am still an apprentice and don't make the full rate, but from some rough math it is around $41/hour for commercial work and $45ish for industrial. The service contract through my union is different from the industrial piping contract that I am used to, so I don't know the exact numbers yet. I'll have a company van from day 1 and I'm super excited to not have to burn my own gas for work anymore. I'll have a couple days of safety training and paperwork to sort through, but it sounds like they have my first job lined up for early next week.

It's still recommended to take supplements though for ms patients. No known cause as of yet, and no cure, just management, disease modifying treatments, and a lot of quacks who prey on the uniformed and desperate.

Jesus, what a loving slow day. 5 deliveries all day, and I don't get off until 7. Let me know via PM if you have it or via the forum if you don't. Peace. Appreciate the offer, but I already have one WRT54G with DD-WRT, and a Netgear N300 with Tomato. Also, fish tape isn't an option, as there's some beams at the top of the walls that have to be drilled through first. We've decided to just put the jacks on the wall I can get to, they've been meaning to move the desk anyway.

As someone who has been using Zillow for the better part of two years, believe about 1/4 of the numbers it throws up. You can find out the actual sales price on your county probate website. If it sold within the last day or -hell even the last month- it won't be on Zillow before it's listed on the probate Court website. Those numbers won't be public until it closes. There's an outside remote chance the listing agent updated the listing, but I doubt it. Long story short: Zillow is full of poo poo, man E: topical, I won't be closing on my new house until almost the end of the month Tide fucked around with this message at 03:29 on Mar 4, 2015 |
