Oh wait, but I thought they "fired the Bombshell team because the game was going nowhere." Bombshell was planned to be an isometric Duke spinoff. They only found out at the 11th hour that, nope, Gearbox still own everything related to Duke and so had to change their protagonist just before announcement. Cue first-draft 3D model, awkwardly animated. I wasn't too worried though. Lady Nukem looks pretty cool now.

That trailer looks amateurish as hell. I'm not saying that I could ever do better; it looks like something I could only hope to make, but when you have a team behind something like that, c'mon... Though they should get Christy Mack to star as her in any real-life appearances

Interceptor are a tiny team that were just a bunch of modders until they remade Rise of The Triad. They've got some financial backing now (which let them buy the 3D Realms brand), but they're still a fairly inexperienced indie crew. The new gameplay trailer looks pretty good though.

If she looked like someone else, anyone else, I would have said that. I actually don't understand why a female in a video game has to be dressed in stuff that shows off cleavage and her stomach, it makes no practical sense. I mean, I'm not naive, I know why they do it, it's just ridiculous.

Before we veer off into a 3 page poo poo-fest about porn stars starring in computer games (who loving cares, just let the developers do what they want and don't buy it afterwards if it angers you) the biggest problem I have with this new Bombshell is that we haven't really seen her have much of a personality yet beyond another brooding modern action hero. Hopefully if we more game footage she's a bit more interesting and brings back some of the 90s charm where the main character actually seemed to be having fun rather than just getting the crap kicked out of them and complaining for most of their screen time. Also the new UT looks great but that map seems to overuse the hell out of shiny floors. I wonder if they'll sneak in an upgraded E1M1 or something. As flat as ever, but with so much new geometry when you look up that you might briefly forget that. Oh, and the new Unreal Tournament is fun as hell. Although it doesn't seem to take into account my weapon order preferences - it asserts the Shock Rifle is better than the Flak Cannon, which I suppose it could be for a player more skilled than myself, but I have it set otherwise, so surely it should reflect that? More annoyingly, it asserts the Enforcer is better than the Stinger Minigun (which is like asserting the Doom pistol is an upgrade from the Chaingun in a deathmatch).

Honeslty, I don't really care if Bombshell really has a personality ATM because I'm more intereted in how the game's systems are going to work. My main concern is that things like the skills you can unlock are good and it has the high-speed action old 3DR/Apogee was known for. A good personality for her can come later.

I skimmed through some of the other unfinished maps that ship with the alpha and some of them have massive potential. I can't check right now but I think one called Cannon had a lot of cool jump pad stuff, and another one was very reminiscent of that awesome mountaintop castle map from UT99. But with a cavey skybox.

I think it's the angle for the gun that makes it look weird. The renders and concept art looked great, but right now in-game it looks really streched out and thin because of how it's angled. ATM it looks anorexic comapred to the beefy murderpistol that is the UT99 Enforcer.

Oh man, I'm getting hyped for the new UT. Played the poo poo out of UT99 (I even owned the PS2 version too) and UT2K4. Shame about the rest in the series. I'm playing through the original Unreal for the first time currently, just got past Sunspire, and it's a fantastic game. I can't imagine how awesome this would have been when it came out in the 90s.

It's like an Impact Hammer but with a little bit of range. Fully charged, it's quite deadly. I've always been a fan.

I did notice the rocket launcher gained the ability to shoot grenades if you left-click when you hold RMB for the rotary thing. Unless that was always in the game and I only just learned about it because UT4's tutorial notified me it's there.
