I wonder how many people actually thought that the machine was a big radiation-emitting instant X-Ray device like in the original Total Recall or some poo poo and not just a simple mo-cap machine with a skeleton animation. Like go get the kid with progeria on that thing I want to see how far ahead the programmers really thought

Some sort of medical professional or anthropologist may have been able to accurately guess their genders or race by their actual skeletal structure and may have ruined the surprise of their ruse for the other onlookers.

Technically it doesn't even have to be mocap. The crowd can't see the other side of the screen, it's not that hard for actors to sync up "walking out from behind the television screen at the same time the video shows the skeletons moving to the edge". It probably is some kind of filter thing though so it can be dynamic or whatever.
