Secretly force socialism, communism and imperialism types of government onto the people of the United States of America.

Finally watched Kill List. I watched A Field in England a while back and really enjoyed it. Have to rewatch to appreciate them more fully, but Michael Smiley is just awesome as hell in both, and the director, Ben Wheatley, and his production crew (I guess? Don't really understand how movies are made, but it feels like a lot of the same people were behind the camera) craft a fantastic visual and auditory experience. A lot of aesthetically pleasing shots, mixed in with unsettling scores. Really glad I went into both of them blind.

A sort of preemptive notification if anyone is interested: On March 27th Crackle is supposed to be releasing Dead Rising: Watchtower, a movie based on the game series.

I'm sort of cautiously optimistic that it might be fun, but I'm not sure if I'm a fan of Rob Riggle as Frank West. I'd probably have preferred someone like Stephen Dorff, though.

Also coming out on the 27th: season 9 of Trailer Park Boys. I hope the new season is as good as the last one, which was a bit of a surprise, if I'm being honest. I wasn't really expecting much, but I thought it was pretty drat good.

Have you watched Black Mirror? He's really good in that, too. You owe it to yourself to watch Sightseers now, which is the funniest of all of Wheatley's stuff.

Thirded. It's full of hatred for how oppressive America and capitalism are, and features fiery performances. It's still incredibly relevant, even though it was made while America was still involved with the Vietnam War. It's a gut-punch of a film.

I'm pretty sure there are some early scenes in Orange that are wholesale lifted from Wentworth. I haven't watched Wentworth all the way through but there were enough similarities in that first episode that it caught my eye.

looks like Three Days of the Condor was recently added. It's a good conspiracy thriller, overhyped by some and overly criticised by others. It's worth a watch if you've not seen it and you like Robert Redford when he was gorgeous.

I'm in the criticism camp, I don't think it aged well. It's a thriller where almost nothing happens. Except he kidnaps a woman and holds her prisoner, and she immediately falls in love with him because Robert Redford.

In light of modern thrillers it's incredibly boring. Even non-action thrillers like Argo or Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy are vastly more exciting and intriguing.

That's cool, I don't have cable but I just binged through seasons 1-4 of Game of Thrones on disc. I might consider $15 a month to see it in real time, if there's enough other content to fill out the price that's not on Amazon Prime (which I already have). Ugh, decisions decisions. But at least it's resembling a la carte cable this way.

Yeah not a lot goes on but I think it's worth it for Redford's performance. I watched it for the first time in years last night and modern thrillers really have advanced the genre.

I know this gets asked every other page, but does anyone know a good "is it on Netflix and if so which region" site? canistream.it is either inaccurate or not working properly for me (I'm staring at the Netflix page for A Separation, but it's not listed here at all). Unless anyone knows what's throwing it off for me (maybe that's not up in the US and it only lists US Netflix stuff?)

For what it's worth, you'd have to go out of your way to hit the prequel first. Netflix just treats it as the second season of a four seasons show and orders the episodes as such.

Flight of the Condor rules. (Except for the uncomfortable, shoe-horned in romance - that's an issue.)

It's one of those slow-paced, creeping paranoia conspiracy movies they made for a while after watergate. Very seventies, very methodical and deliberate in a way you don't see too often anymore.

Not as good as Day of the Jackal, which is even slower and even cooler, but better than the slightly goofy Parallex View.

Always Sunny is really good. I've spent a good amount of my recent free time rewatching Always Sunny, and it's a drat funny show about horrible people. It's a more nihilistic Seinfeld; part screwball comedy, part black comedy about assholes loving up the lives of everyone they come into contact with, and never facing any severe consequences. The characters are also really well-drawn, and have solid personalities the writers/actors can play up. The acting is phenomenal, and the characters all fit well into their parts. It's ridiculously entertaining.

We really like your car, Mrs. LaRusso.
I experienced some kind of binge-watch drought recently and, being mildly desperate, decided to re-watch Prison Break.

It's just the best loving thing ever, and very smart about being stupid. The pace is ridiculously frenetic -- there is a cliffhanger at least four times per episode -- to the point where I can't believe none of the characters die from dangerously high blood pressure. These people cannot step on a bug without it loving up their plans and putting them all in mortal danger.

If you would like to know what would happen if MacGyver had to break out of prison, this is more or less the show for you. It does dip a bit in season four, but the actors are SO good at what they do that it remains very watchable. Especially T-Bag. But not Micheal Rappaport, who delivers one of the worst recurring performances on a network series I have ever had to endure.

Seriously: William Fichtner kills it. Robert Knepper kills it. Make a commitment. Do it.
