After 2008 and 2012, it would be nice to be the one doing the hysterical laughing instead of nervous laughing during the primaries.

Dude your entire party is a literal joke. One of your current front runners is thanking God for veterans dying, and the other is comparing busting unions to fighting terrorism.

The GOP here is the one running from viable candidates, not the democrats.

Nobody is running away from Clinton. The email thing is a minor blip and will fade away despite the Republicans' best efforts to paint as the worst scandal in the history of United States politics. You've been watching too much Fox News.

If (lol) Hillary doesn't run, someone who isn't currently running like Gillibrand or Patrick or Hickenlooper or a Castro is going to get the nomination, it's really probably not going to be O'Malley.

The tracks go off in this direction.
Since when are the Democrats stuck with a black and white choice of Hillary or Gov. Carcetti? There are plenty of viable Democratic candidates that just aren't going to make a stir or get any coverage if and until Hillary says she's out.

Republicans also have viable candidates. Just none of them appear to want to run against lunacy.

Lunacy (or a willingness to participate in same) is currently a required element of the job description for Republican candidates.

The Democrats could run a card board cut out of Joe Biden and still win with the current GOP line up.

Just stand him at the debate podium and let Carson/Walker/what ever other idiot the Republicans find hang himself.

The reason the media was hyping O'Malley yesterday is that he held an event and people who willingly attended that event gave them a bunch of quotes about how great they think O'Malley is.

This is the same polling strategy that had Mitt Romney convinced he was going to win.

I still think the nomination was his for the taking if he had been willing to fight for it. The donor class would have come crawling back the second Bush or Walker misspoke.

My (and presumably his) dream is him as a compromise candidate at the convention.

I fail to see any charisma anywhere in this election, actually. Maybe Deval Patrick if Hillary was out? I've barely seen anything of the guy.

I'm talking about candidates that can maybe win. Christie is going nowhere and Trump will not run.

The GOP field is like the 1988 Dem field. A bunch of people no one outside their own states cares about, with no charisma (all of them), fighting to stop the one candidate who would be guaranteed to lose (all of them).

I would love to see one of the Castro's go for it in the event of Clinton not running. If only Mark Dayton didn't already have health issues and had a bit more ambition. It would be great to see Walker vs Dayton presidential debates. Especially considering the relative states of Wisconsin vs Minnesota right now.

Carson had asserted Wednesday morning on CNN's "New Day" that homosexuality is a choice because people "go into prison straight -- and when they come out, they're gay."

He backtracked in a statement afterward, saying he "realized that my choice of language does not reflect fully my heart on gay issues."

"I do not pretend to know how every individual came to their sexual orientation. I regret that my words to express that concept were hurtful and divisive. For that I apologize unreservedly to all that were offended," he added.

Carson referenced his medical education and his work at Johns Hopkins Hospital and asserted that the verdict is still out on whether people are born either gay or straight.

"Some of our brightest minds have looked at this debate, and up until this point there have been no definitive studies that people are born into a specific sexuality," he said.

In a radio interview with Sean Hannity, Carson then said he won't be talking about gay rights anymore "because every time I'm gaining momentum, the liberal press says, let's talk about gay rights -- and I'm just not going to fall for that anymore."

God this guy is amazing. "You can't make me talk about things I don't want to get killed by the public on!"

People keep acting like if they hold out one day a great candidate will descend from on high and lead the GOP to victory.

The Republican base has been getting narrower and narrower for decades. Who knew it's hard to find good presidential candidates when the only way to advance in GOP is to appeal to literally 1 demographic and noone else.
