Going into Age of Ultron, do we know the timetable for when Tony started the Ultron program? If it's already up and running by the time the movie starts, then maybe Bobbi and Mac are working for Ultron but don't know it? Or maybe they do?

I assume when you say Tony you mean Stark, and the Ultron program is some sort of comic thing? As far as I know there has been no mention of Ultron in any of the movies or TV shows.

I really enjoy this show. I thought Simmons went a little too far with her anti-powers thing, hopefully it dials back some :ohdear: I honestly forgot about ol' eyeless dude so his appearance at the end was cool. I feel like that has happened to me once or twice before with this show too, and I've watched almost all of it without commercials even.

Did you miss the opening part, then, when they showed teenage him trying to deal with his Terragenesis, and Skye's mom being there to help him? Or did you just totally forget about him after that?

I have to say them working for ultron (though maybe not knowing it's ultron) seems pretty reasonable and fits a formula very similar to season one with their being secret hydra elements leading up to Cap 2.

Remember when Simmons was infected with that alien virus back in FZZT and almost killed herself? That would mess a person up.

Actually, I did forget about that! It would go a long way towards explaining more why Jemma's so paranoid about Alien Plagues. That, combined with seeing Mac get turned into a monster and barely getting saved, Trip  (and Xena) being killed by the ~alien whatsit~ and being carted away in pieces in a wheelbarrow like so much trash right in front of her, followed by several people being murdered by one of the alien-powered people right next to her just earlier in the day is enough to make her reaction believable to me.

Not to mention, I'm not sure what the timeline is, she may have even seen firsthand just how dangerous the ~alien mist~ is while working at Hydra? Was she there while they were working to weaponize the Diviner/Obelisk and successfully created a horrific weapon from it? Did she see the results at the Navy Wedding?

I mean just objectively so far the Inhuman tech has done a lot more to show itself to be a force of death and destruction rather than happy fun thoughts.

She was at the meeting where they discussed why there wasn't 100% casualties and saw the pictures from it. She even was the one to suggest that having possession of the Obelisk would make the weapon more effective.

Ah seen from this light, Gemma's heel turn doesn't seem so surprisingly. Also remember how angry she was when she got a glimpse of Ward getting escorted out of SHIELD. The pieces certainly are there to make her angst feel more credible.

It seems extremely unlikely to me that Marvel is going to take a fairly well known comic hero and make her somewhat evil. I'm betting there is a good guy explanation for this.

Yeah, thus far Shield (and the MCU in general) has seen nothing good come from the inhumans, and very few good things come from aliens/superpowers in general.

Good: Avengers, nice Asgardians

Bad: Chitauri (Avengers 1 aliens), bad asgardians (Loki, Thor 2 villain, berserker staff), everything inhuman related

Cap 2 is a good example of humanity being the real monsters, but there's also aliens wrecking NYC and London and killing what, a few thousand people at a conservative estimate offscreen?

As a side note, one thing I liked about Cap 2 is it showed a probable reaction by people in power to aliens showing up and wrecking poo poo, which is throw infinite money at a defense organization to build big lumbering superweapons that aliens would probably just see as a big ol' obvious target.

Simmons seemed more worried that more and more people with real powers are on the other side. She saw how close Hydra came to taking over the world, and they didn't have anyone with special powers working for them (as far as she knows)

Yeah, but remember what created her - the Diviner, which contains some kinda magic alien juice that horribly killed everyone else who was exposed to it. And for all Jemma knows, that fatal substance is still present within Raina (and anyone else like her) and could resurface at any random provocation. It could be bloodborne and get into the water supply, who knows. Also the people that created the Inhumans made her dear boss Coulson crazy and almost killed him. They haven't shown much regard for humanity.

We gotta remember how biased we are by any comic knowledge we have - in the comics being Inhuman is an incredibly stable, safe kind of superpower, with basically no biological risks involved at all. Probably even safer than being a mutant, and certainly safer than random radiation/chemical powers like the Hulk or whoever. A number of those types have eventually developed cancer, or caused cancer in others around them (Spider-Man notably killed Mary-Jane this way in a vision of the future), or other degenerative diseases linked to their powers, or gone crazy, or turned into clouds of living space energy or whatever. And while Inhumanity'll probably be safe in the MCU as well, it hasn't been established yet and Simmons sure doesn't have any reason to think so.

From a doctor's standpoint, suddenly having your genes monkeyed around with by exposure to a deadly substance from an ancient alien race whose attitude towards humankind seems somewhere between "apathetic" and "malevolent" isn't something to be excited about.

Yeah like Xbox brought up, I'm more referring to the technology/weirdness surrounding inhumans than inhumans themselves. The magic turn to stone tech most notably, but they also made coulson crazy, mind controlled Mack for awhile, allowed Whitehall to be young again, etc.

I like that the show has set up a reason to distrust the inhumans, beyond just them having superpowers. People hate mutants because of guys like Magneto, alongside general bigotry, so here we'll have mistrust of inhumans because of both the genetic changes and their tech having been used to kill a LOT of people.

This is less impressive when you consider that there are ~7 billion humans on Earth, compared to perhaps a few hundred Inhumans & roughly 1/2 of one dead Kree.

I doubt Age of Ultron is going to ease Simmons any with a woman who can literally alter reality running around on the wrong side for a period of time.

And she is no doubt aware of the Abomination, Extremis and other super powered bad guy stuff that was just barely contained.

I really want Cap 3 to directly intersect with AoS. Coulson would no doubt side with Cap, but who knows about the rest? Skye would probably go with him and with her Fitz.
