He's trying to say the Democrats are stuck with 3 terrible front runners instead of an inevitable Clinton win, a respected veteran in politics like Biden who like, said 'yea I might like to run' once, and Warren who's incredibly loved by the left because the Republicans have literally nothing after Walker imploded at CPAC saying things like Reagan busting the air traffic controllers was the single greatest foreign policy moment he saw or something.

Taciturn Tactician posted:Alright, "lawmaker" was the wrong term, but if a bill is going to the supreme court with the case being "is this legal", surely you'd have to either believe it was legal or not to make a decision, so how is it worth recusing yourself if you believe it's legal? There is a theory that judges should always be neutral on political issues, so that they can judge purely on the legality of cases rather than simply choosing the side they want to win. Scalia, for instance, is widely seen as a partisan hack who will rule for the Republican side no matter what (the fact that the ridiculous "typo case" King v. Burwell is even being considered is evidence that bias exists). It's a nice theory, but it's never really worked, due to the unfortunate fact that judges are human. quote:I don't think the data is that locked up Branco, I'm pretty sure you can go on NOAA or the EPA website and look it up. So, Branco, I assume the contradicting data from the people who pay your salary are completely open and transparent?

OwlBot 2000 posted:Why is Marty so anti-marijuana? Indian reservations have been used as fronts to evade taxes and regulation on cigarettes, gambling, loansharking, etc. These industries are often of questionable benefit to the Indians themselves and in some cases have brought organized crime to the reservations. Marty seems concerned that pot will be more of the same.

Not only are reservations often used for some seriously shady drug dealings, substance abuse among the Native population is pretty high. We've spoken a bit about how hopeless many Native American children feel and how dire they think the future is. Drug use is most certainly part of the problem, and Mr. Two Bulls is rightfully suspicious of any attempt to make it easier to enable that kind of destructive behavior. I don't think that he is intrinsically anti-weed, and he probably doesn't give a hoot one way or the other about its legalization in the national sense. Absolutely one of the strongest themes in his cartoons is his how highly Mr. Two Bulls thinks of and values young Native Americans, and he is very protective of them. It's like the recent cartoon he did about all of the consumerist crap that gets hurled out of the television screen at kids. Marty's not a "some weird Gizmo" kind of guy, he was very sharply pointing out that consumerist gotta have it culture is a big part of what is making kids so miserable. He is an amazingly talented artist and I wish that his cartoons got more exposure. They're funny and they're important.
