Soon I'll be sitting on the front porch blasting carpenter bees out of the air doing that. Sadly, alot of these are way too high up and right against my house so I can't really risk doing that. I just went back out and did a second sweep and nailed another half a dozen of the fucker's nests and 4-5 around the rest of the house. There are realistically maybe 2-3 I missed hidden way up underneath my truck, but this may be the year that I'm finally wasp free. (at least I hope, I'm almost out of carb/brake cleaner)

I've been wanting to smoke a brisket, but lately the prices have been ridiculous so it's been mostly pork butts. Smoked a turkey breast for thanksgiving and it was incredible, hello new thanksgiving tradition!

It's basically some lightweight VOCs like xylene and acetone. Just don't smoke around it. Chlorinated brake cleaner is bad news. You don't want to gently caress with TCE. That having been said, soapy water or water with anything in it to break the surface tension will penetrate their exoskeletons and drown them. edit: In an unrelated note, I am unreasonably excited about going to dinner tomorrow night (falafel and shwarma...yummmm) with a girl I've been dating for a month and a half. Let's blame Anheiser Busch for DUIs. Food for making people fat. People have free will to make their own choices. Some make good choice, some make bad choices. Those choices were to go to a street race they knew to be illegal and stand ringside to two near 4000 lb machines that may or may not suffer a mechanical issue at high rate of speed with who knows how much horsepower driven by human beings that are prone to error in an uncontrolled environment. These made the wrong choice.

I agree in that regard, but I also think that the idiots breaking the law with the result of a fatality should be held accountable, it's not unreasonable imo.

The driver should get at least a lengthy jail term and be barred from every driving or owning a car again. The organizers should get some jail and huge fines.

Tide posted:Counter point: No one made them go. I agree to some extent from a moral standpoint. If this was a family in a car just driving by, I might have a different view. I don't think they should get away scott-free, but a life sentence or even a decade seems a bit much given that the spectators are hardly innocent. I hate street racers as much as anyone, but context matters for me. From a legal perspective, it doesn't matter. The reason people don't get charge for fatals at closed-course motor racing isn't because the spectators and participants accepted the risk, it is that some procedures are taken to lower the risk. A truly reckless operator could get get a manslaughter from a track though. Similarly a track owner who ignores safety defects could also get a manslaughter charge. Pulled into a convenience store tonight. Parked next to my car's doppelganger. Talked to the guy for a minute. The only difference between our cars was the transmission. Same year, same options (except his was automatic), same color combo, similar miles. I've never seen another 06-07 coupe with the same options before; it's pretty rare to see an 06-07 Ion 3 in general (most are the Ion 2, and when you do see a 3, it's almost always a sedan). I've never seen another 3 with the exact same option/color combination before. This was identical right down to the spoiler. e: I did my front brakes less than a year ago. They're grinding already. The only reason I did them to begin with was the violent shaking while braking - the pads looked almost new when I removed them, but the rotors were pretty hosed. Looks like I get to do a pad slap this weekend (tl;dr don't buy NASCAR branded Raybestos brake pads, even if they're on sale for ). Going to go with whatever middle of the line Autozone carries for pads this time, at least I caught it before they really hosed up the rotors. The pads on there now don't even have wear indicators. Tomarse posted:Go buy yourself an ubiquiti unifi AP. They have awesome coverage. I have one standard that covers my entire house, garden, garage and the road outside. That's the plan at some point, but ultimately if I want the kind of speed I really need between computers (gigabit preferably), it'll eventually either be all hardwired, or everything gets upgraded to 802.11ac. At the moment, my laptop, my mobile phone, and stepdad's mobile phone are the only devices in the house that support .11ac (and my laptop, for whatever reason, won't connect over 802.11n, even though the wireless chipset in it supports n - n is disabled somewhere). There's even two devices in the house that only support 802.11g (both Kindle devices - one is an actual Kindle, the other is a Kindle Fire, though neither get used very often). I do know I'm able to pull 50+ mbit in the master bedroom now (we have 50mbit to the house, so I have no idea if it can go higher), compared to 1-2 mbit with the Actiontec router. And the one computer on a ethernet over power adapter is now pulling 50+ mbit as well, instead of ~15mbit - pretty sure that's because I've removed a couple of hundred feet of copper from the equation since the network stuff all runs off of the attic power now (which is a circuit that only serves the furnace, doorbell transformer, and attic lighting - I tapped into that circuit for the outlet in the closet). randomidiot fucked around with this message at 08:15 on Mar 8, 2015 |
