Current theory: Day by Day is actually some kind of performance piece about failure that some goon's been doing for too long. Confess, "Chris Muir", that it's all a lie.

Wasn't Muir embedded in Iraq during the Bush years or something like that? He's real and he is fantastic.

What was the aim of the program? How did they select people to go, is it self nominated? Is it self funded? What does the military get out of the deal? Didn't Rall go as well and a couple other cartoonists? Again, why? I drawing a complete blank about any possible reason to do this...

Also that picture of the faces is terrifying me, like I'm expecting that to be etched in a ziggurat in Nicaragua portrayed the Aztec gods. Like Zed is Xipe Totec. It sounds like, at a minimum, ensuring the safety of these journalists would require some effort on their part... I guess, if the journalists do report that the war is going awesomely the army gets good press, is that it? It just strikes me as a weird idea...

I hate that I remember this but: Originally, Sam was roughly Zed's age. Until later on it came out that she was actually 20 years younger or something like that but had lied to Zed so that he wouldn't reject her. But then later on Muir wrote that Sam's mother had been in an internment camp and possibly that Sam had been born there (I don't really remember that part, I just kind of skim most DBDs and have gleaned this through other poster's talking about it.) All in all...Muir sucks at writing.
