Did kids their age even watch friends? Did anyone who wasn't insufferable even watch friends?

I believe in a universe that doesn't care, and people that do.

I think with the sliding timescale, Friends was off the air when these kids were born.

I wouldn't say "insufferable," but I have a niece who's about the same age as Annie and Kat, and thanks to DVD and streaming, she likes Friends.

In all fairness, I'm insufferable and I have never watched Friends.

I really wish that Kat had designed the dormbots this year so I could lay on a terrible joke about how great it is that she's making Friends.

I don't know if this joke is going to keep on going, but I kind of hope it does for another couple of pages.

I was watching Power Rangers and later Buffy in the 90s, personally. Where's my Rita Repulsa/Xander robot team?

And it was on syndicated repeat every afternoon at 5 when they were 6.

Opposite The Simpsons on BBC3.

What kind of British programming would they be watching growing up (besides Doctor Who)?

Growing up, I watched BBC adaptations of Sherlock Holmes, the TV adaptation of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Red Dwarf, and a whole swath of British sitcoms from the seventies, on American PBS. In addition to Doctor Who. It was a hugely formative experience.

A Red Dwarf themed dorm would be awesome, except it would be cold outside with no kind of atmosphere.

Goldfish shoals nibble at your toes. In glass bowls.

(The dorm at Space Camp reminded me a little of Rimmer and Lister's cabin on Red Dwarf, actually.)

As both a '90s kid and somebody who's watched a lot of Friends lately because of Netflix, Friends is at worst adequately amusing and often hilarious, particularly in the mid-to-late seasons and often involving Lisa Kudrow (who's the only talented actor of the bunch).

(Keeping in mind that it's a multi-camera live audience sitcom, with all the limitations that implies.)

Maybe it's the tree that came from the seed Ysengrin dropped way back when.

Or was that just growing into an arm?

I've seen fun you people wouldn't believe.
Tiki torches on fire off the summit of Kilauea.
I watched disco balls glitter in the dark near the Brandenburg Gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like crowds in rain.

Time to sleep.

An arm that was planted in the court and was growing into a tree, so maybe it is, yeah...the archive icon for the chapter is a Saturn-like planet...

That apple is a work of art. I'm astounded at how much Tom's work has progressed since the first chapters. That's part of the appeal of the comic for me, watching that transformation.
