What's the best way to gain positive karma? I'm sitting at Very Evil because I just have to steal everything that's not bolted down and I can't talk to Cass without her bitching at me and leaving (even though she happily joined me while I was already at Very Evil). I already donated a bunch of meds to the followers before picking her up and fiends don't respawn fast enough. I feel like she's the only part of the game that actually cares what your karma is.

Killing Ghouls, unless you're playing a mod that fixes it, gives you an insane amount of good karma, especially the ones around that nuked NCR town.

And why does killing ghouls reward karma? Is it because the game figures it's a mercy killing?

That's most likely the reason, but usually people just kill them out of self-defense. It's not very good logic, but the amount of karma you receive for doing it makes it feel like it's not intended to give you that much.

Good karma's a lot harder to come by in JSawyer, I got to like the bottom of the scale by just by playing normally because I'm another stealer of everything. I cheated myself up to Good to get Cass to like me and only did nice things for the rest of the game to make up for it.

I love it. it doesn't really impact your gameplay unless you want it to - and if you try and abide by it it makes stealing unattractive - which it should be, because frankly it ceases to be a game when you can turn on easy mode just by taking all the things

Fallout 4 rumored not sure to arrive this year since Bethesda hasn't been sure if the game will surely to come on time. E3, on the other hand, is coming soon.

Recently, as E3 conference is getting closer, a lot of the fans were now speculating if the game will surely to arrive on time since Bethesda hasn't shared any further details about the development of the game, not even its release date. After seven years of the Fallout 3 release, the game developer hasn't confirmed anything yet as of the moment.

Based from the existing reports, Bethesda has only developed around one or two games for years along with the other published game titles such as the Fallout and the Elder Scrolls, which are really their big titles. Unfortunately, with the upcoming game, Fallout 4, no announcements were made yet from them.

Something that only just occurred to me after an ungodly number of hours paying New Vegas and the DLCs is that syncing dialog with the face/mouth of NPCs must be a big expense.

So in the base game there's Mr House, who you only talk to as a static image on a terminal. Legate Lanius has a bigass helmet that covers his face. In Dead Money you have mute Christine and all your interactions with Elijah are over loudspeakers or a terminal. In Honest Hearts Joshua's face is covered in bandages. In OWB there isn't a single NPC that actually speaks to you in human form. In Lonesome Road the only person you talk to is Ulysses and he's got that rebreather mask.

Anyway, pretty cool that they managed to do this in a way that wasn't glaringly obvious (to me at least).

It's more that they can't make convincing faces in FaceGen because it's quite lovely. Bethesda's engine has auto-lipsync for voice files.

Best lip sync I've seen is still for Source engine games. Valve released a Russian version of the Meet the Heavy video, and the engine automatically synced up the proper lip movements to match the language.

Actually you probably would; even with the DLC piñatas two-thirds empty the experience payout is kinda ridiculous.

There's also mods for exactly that and the GECK (New Vegas's mod tools) are only an extra few MB and useful to have around.

Or whatever the thing is called that resolves mod collisions. (E: FNVEdit.)

Groovy, thank you! I've never delved into the New Vegas DLC myself, but I've heard tales of their absurd EXP gains. My favorite is how you can get two levels from exhausting the Think Tank's dialogue. That's a lil' bit absurd.

Goodsprings is a really drat slow start, but I really don't know how else you could have done it. The first Act of New Vegas is a little slow all around if you take the loop. By Mojave Outpost and Nipton is where I really get into, because you meet more NCR and Legion folks and Act 2 meeting House and Benny is just all pretty ace.

Honestly the benefits of drugs are way better than the extra levels, especially in the DLCs with their level scaling bullet sponge enemies. Skilled + Logan's Loophole 4 Lyfe.

Ditto. I actually like the idea of reaching my cap around level 20-30, because by then my character feels molded and "finished" and ready to take on the wastes, rather than continually leveling up and sinking points into skills just because they haven't topped out yet. I like it in combination with anything that lowers XP gain and increases skills through actual use. Makes more sense to level up my melee skill by shadowboxing than by hacking computers.

Any higher level and I just get bored with the character because it devolves into a renaissance man instead of a specialist.

xthetenth

Mario wasn't sure if this Jeb guy was a good influence on Yoshi.

I don't like the level scaling because it keeps going as if you were still gaining combat ability at a constant rate after you get your skill to 100, which messes with the power curve. It's real easy to get ahead then fall behind on it, which contributes to schizoid enemy power. I'd rather a steeper ramp that stops before you taper off.

It's not the slow burn start for the plot, I'm a big fan of the long way around showing off the factions; it's the lethargicly voice acted tutorial and the blisteringly simple quest choice (will you help the peaceful townies who helped you, or be a giant evil dickhead for no reason since you don't even get paid).

"Ah," Ratz had said, at last, "the artiste."
It's 21 because Vegas, man. I mean really.

I do agree that the game is slow as gently caress to start, but I do like all the little speech challenges you can pass as you talk everyone into helping you and all the little caches hidden close to Goodsprings (Chance's grave, the Yangtze Memorial, the Devil's Gullet or whatever) to help prepare you for the fight, whatever your playstyle may be.

I can't stand the whole Primm->Mojave Outpost->Nipton bit and all the backtracking you end up doing for all the quests in that area, though. I would say I've skipped it on like 80% of my playthroughs, either heading straight to Vegas or taking a shortcut to Novac.
