Can't mention the Faulconer score without the Cell theme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gEGl1mHhdE Equal parts creepy and awesome.

Faulconer was okay, but how they transitioned from one song to another was god awful. They used SSJ Vegeta's theme for when Gohan finally destroys Cell, which was awesome since SSJ Vegeta's theme is easily one of his best tracks, and then they transition into this horrible, plodding....THING as Cell disintegrates and it's jarring and horrible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lGuDTRilKQ Good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ec6fR11dHUk Start at 2:00. Goes from awesome to just poo poo so quickly.

So I was playing some Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and I can confirm that both Jeice and Burter have Purple Comet as their ultimate attack(and each one is unique), also the Ginyu Force are in general actually really good in this game, except for Ginyu himself who is pretty meh

yajirobe is really good in tenkaichi 3 because he can just fullheal himself with a senzu bean as much as he wants

My favorite part of BudoTen 3 was playing as Tao and throwing trees at people.

My friend always used to play as Chiaotzu in DBZBT2 and kick everyone's rear end because a) he himself was good at the game and b) Chiaotzu was small and hard to hit. It was very embarrassing to lose to Chiaotzu as "At long last, 100% Freeza."

The other thing I remember about BT2/3's story mode was how you frequently had to win almost unwinnable matches (Krillin and Gohan vs the super-powered Dodoria springs to mind), retrying many times, so you could in the next cutscene lose the fight and move on. It was annoying. Also BT3 had the most padded roster in the history of rosters.

# ? Mar 11, 2015 07:57 |

the padded roster is the greatest thing about it, though. you can play as king cold and Generic Frieza Soldier.

Right now I decided to boot up Budokai Tenkaichi 1 for the first time in years and it still holds up surprisingly well for a 10 year old DBZ game although it's still really weird in quite a few ways(although one thing I appreciate is that it actually has a good chunk of it's roster locked up at the beginning unlike Budokai Tenkaichi 3 which gives you like 85% of the roster from the start which while I can understand why they did it, removes a sense of achievement for doing stuff in that game)

projecthalaxy posted:Oh I agree, playing as Literally Anybody was fun but there were 16 Gokus. A bit excessive. There were just five plus all his transformations, no? Kid Goku, Early Goku, mid-Goku, late-Goku and GT Goku? Mid-Goku could go SSJ, Late-Goku could go SSJ, SSJ2, SSJ3, SSJ Gogeta and Vegito and Super Vegito, GT Goku could go SSJ, SSJ3 and SSJ4 and SSJ4 Gogeta. Xenoverse also has a pretty huge roster and some people don't see the point in there being so many variants of Apu you can play as kinda miss the idea that there are missions with mooks you need to kill dozens of and making them playable was just a flip of a switch early on in development.

I kinda wish they had utilized CaCs more, instead of just as Time Patrollers. Maybe make some CaC style Saiyans for some missions, or groups of alien-style Frieza Soldiers to protect Earth from in droves. Maybe have you fend off groups of Warrior Namekians on Namek. Frieza putting down a rebellion of his own people? Things like that, where the game or the developers would just use the CaC system to create some random appropriate mooks.

Rewatched Vegito vs Super Buu a little while ago. The sudden shift in tone when Vegito becomes "the world's strongest candy ball" is one of the reasons DBZ is awesome.

About the only knock on kai is that they tone the violence way down from the original. They basically got rid of most of the blood.

Well I watched Dead Zone again, and realized that a timeline where Garlic Jr beats Goku and Piccolo and raises Gohan as his dark disciple would be really interesting one to explore in a future Xenoverse sequel
