Even as someone who wants gun/bullet control (though recognizes its like asking for a unicorn at this point), I am used to this side calling things by scarier names than they warrant, so are these steel bullets actually for piercing armor, or something else?

Getting rid of the death penalty was one of the worst mistakes some of our states have done because its a very good deterrent against crime and would save alot of money.

Obama doesn't even have to run for re-election again and he isn't going to do anything about these 47 Senators is he? I guess when you run around illegally bombing countries with drones you don't want to start getting technical with the law when the opposition does it. Sanders or any other candidate that gives a poo poo about the law in 2016 please. Bush/Obama has been a disaster.

The Arkansas Time posted a huge investigative piece getting to the bottom of that hosed up adoption story where a state rep "rehomed" his adopted daughters to a molester. It answers a lot of the questions people had: Was there some hosed up religious angle? You better believe it. quote:Chelsey Goldsborough, who regularly babysat for the Harrises, said Mary was kept isolated from Annie and from the rest of the family. She was often confined for hours to her room, where she was monitored by a video camera. The reason: The Harrises believed the girls were possessed by demons and could communicate telepathically, Goldsborough said. Harris and his wife once hired specialists to perform an "exorcism" on the two sisters while she waited outside the house with the boys, she said. Did the state rep use his influence to get the adoption? gently caress yes he did. quote:Cheryl Hart also remembers Justin Harris often mentioning the name of DCFS director Blucker, the person ultimately in charge of adoption and foster care for the state of Arkansas. As a legislator, Harris knew Blucker personally — and has some influence over her budget. Why did he send them to an employee he fired? The timeline of the original reporting has been cleared up. The molester worked for the state rep when the girls where "rehomed" to him, and they were moved shortly after he was fired. quote:The Harrises sent Mary and Annie to live with the Francises in October 2013, just a year after they had taken them into custody. The girls remained with the Francises until February or March of 2014 — a month or two after Francis stopped working at the Harrises' daycare. In the interview with KARK last Friday, Harris said Francis left to spend more time studying for a seminary degree and that the parting was amicable. When news of the rape came out in April 2014 and Harris was questioned about his former employee, he told the Times he'd fired Francis for a poor work record. The lawmaker did not reveal at the time the child Francis raped was Harris' own.

Jesus, he sounds like loving nut. He strong arms them into letting them adopt some kids, then thinks the kids have the daemons so he basically neglects and abuses them, then when it doesn't "work out" he gives them to a pedophile to molest. I bet you he knew the dude was pedophile and didn't care because the girls were already "demonic" anyway. Hope the prick gets sent to jail.

Just to add to the death penalty discussion in this thread, the Wyoming Legislature just concluded its session and it, too, was considering a bill to adopt firing squad as an alternate method of execution in the event lethal injection drugs aren't available. The bill was sailing through the process, but stalled over a disputed amendment to the bill that would require the condemned to be sedated and rendered unconscious prior to their execution. The House wanted sedation to be mandatory, the Senate wanted it to be an option. The bill had to go through not one, not two, but three conference committees before it finally died; each time the Senate tried to get the House to agree to the optional sedation, and each time they voted it down by like a 28-32 margin. So yeah, we don't want firing squads in Wyoming unless they're compassionate firing squads.
