Have you heard about First Dog? It's a very good comic I just love.

Also, wear your bike helmets kids. I copped several blows to the head but my helmet left me totally unscathed.

Finally you should check out First Dog as it's a good comic I like it very much.

I agree, and we actually have a classification for people that act in an extreme anti-social manner (e.g. blowing themselves + innocents up) due to pervasive environmental conditions, often during adolescence: sociopathy. Sociopathy is, of course, either a subclassification of or synonymous with psychopathy depending on who you ask, but is still classified as a mental illness.

I wonder which group would be considered mentally sound: somebody who is coerced into committing a suicide attack against innocents, or somebody who chooses to take their own life rather than hurt others?
Full disclosure: I suffer from multiple diagnosed mental illnesses that are not completely treatable, and have been particularly strongly expressed in the last month.

Murodese. You have literally no idea what you are talking about. That is not entirely your fault because the terms are misused a fair amount and the definitions are not exactly what you'd assume.

Psychopathy and Sociopathy are not about violence, though violence is a potential manifestation of these conditions. They are defined by "enduring anti-social behaviour", low empathy, lack of remorse and/inhibition. In this way, a person who meets all these criteria and systematically bashes his wife each night is no more nor less of a psycho/sociopath than a person who demonstrates all these symptoms and manifests it by being an arsehole around the office, maliciously undercutting and/or slandering coworkers. How dangerous they are to the public is not a defining matter. Indeed, I have read that a fair few CEO's and executives are diagnosed psychopaths. Such is an environment they thrive in. Politics is another such environment where they would do well.

Someone wandering into a crowd and blowing themselves up does, indeed, demonstrate an anti-social behaviour. No argument there. But it does so from only one perspective: That of the crowd. From the perspective of the individuals group such an act would be portrayed as a selfless act of sacrifice. This is why I am so irritated at you simply pulling this amateur hour armchair psychologist crap. From your perspective they must hate hate hate, but from theirs they may be selflessly sacrificing themselves for a cause greater than themselves. Frankly, a psychopath is more likely to engage in activities that let them get away to kill again, or grant them some kind of gain, or encourage others to do the self destruction. There's actually a body of research on this subject, and simply labelling these people as mentally ill does everyone, including mentally ill people a disservice.

Question: Do you likewise consider, say, Australian soldiers to be mentally ill for fighting, and maybe dying for what they believe in? I am afraid it boils down to exactly the same thing.

Seriously, I suggest you do the reading on the subject before you mouth off on this subject in future. You are doing yourself a disservice, and you are actively, though unintentionally, harming everyone out there with a mental illness by being so hasty to declare that that people whom you see as dangerous or threatening or engage in behaviours you cannot easily empathise with are mentally ill (I have already explained how. Twice).

An anti-bullying program aimed at informing teachers about prejudice toward LGBTI students is “little more than a gay, lesbian, transgender lifestyle promotion program,” conservative Western Australian government backbencher Peter Abetz is reported to have said.

The West Australian reports that Abetz, elder brother to Abbott government minister Eric Abetz and a former pastor in the Christian Reformed Church, gave a private briefing to his Liberal party colleagues in the WA parliament to speak against the Safe Schools program which will become available to WA schools later this year.

Abetz reportedly said he believed that most LGBTI teenagers grew out of it, and highlighted anti-bullying programs he thought would be more appropriate.

“The militant gay lesbian lobby is trying to get this into our schools to ‘normalise’ what they consider the LGBTI agenda,” the West Australian reports him as saying.

House of Cards

The Liberal Party has dealt with the spill motion and now this matter is behind us." - Tony Abbott

Prime Minister Tony Abbott says his Government has put its divisions behind it, and is now back on track, ready to deliver good government to Australians.

But is this really true? Have the divisions built up over the past year and the wounds inflicted as the result of the threat of a leadership spill last month really been healed, or is he on borrowed time as leader?

This week on Four Corners, reporter Marian Wilkinson reveals leaked communications, top secret decisions and interventions from outside the Liberal Party intended to shore up Tony Abbott's leadership, that suggest the party remains divided.

The program tracks key government policy decisions that saw its popularity sink from highs to major lows. It tells how for much of the past year and a half the Prime Minister has been cut off from his own backbench, making him incapable of understanding the impact budget measures were having on voters.

In the weeks since the party room spill, the Prime Minister has repeatedly insisted his party will not go down the road taken by Labor when it replaced Kevin Rudd with Julia Gillard. However others, even those that support him, offer this veiled warning:

"We want him to succeed and we want the Government to succeed... and I think that we will get there. But if it doesn't, the first person to know that it's not working will be Tony Abbott and I have every confidence that if that happens, and I don't think it will but if that happens, I think Tony would do the right thing by Australia." - Government backbencher

It becomes clear that while Tony Abbott may have come through one crisis, the margin for error in his leadership diminishes as each month passes and the next election gets closer.

As a former Liberal Cabinet Minister said:

"Understand this, as you get closer [to an election], every marginal seat member is thinking I could lose my seat... if things don't change, the party room will..."

Q: "...Will change the leader?"

"Yeah, if things don't change."

The vast majority of suicide bombers wouldn't be psychopaths, they'd be traumatised, brainwashed, marginalised young people. One of VICE's HBO episodes was about child suicide bombers in Afghanistan, for example, and these boys just flat out knew nothing, and some had even been told that they wouldn't actually die because ~reasons~. Obviously the situation for this kid is quite different, but the only people you could reliably classify as psychopathic as a general rule would be the Imams ordering these idiot kids and young people to do bombings and massacres. I don't think anyone would honestly believe that everyone involved in committing genocides is a psychopath. When a corporate culture is that toxic and dehumanising, people will act in disgusting ways because it's tolerated or encouraged. You don't need to have a mental illness or personality disorder to act crazy, you just need the right ingredients. The kid was obviously angry and traumatised, but I seriously doubt he had a profound personality disorder.
Don't forget the promise of 72 virgins for the virgins. That seems to be the numero uno promise to would be suicide bombers if popular media has taught me anything on the topic.

The main issue with the kid, at least just from that one blog post which you know, isn't very much, seems to be that he just wanted to see the world in a black and white way. You have the bad guys vaguely western society general, and the good guys anyone who doesn't like western society in general. The draw towards ISIS being that they seemed to him to be the group most against western society currently.

As soon as he placed ISIS into the good guys category he ignored all negative details as propaganda, most noticeably when he dismissed the attempted genocide of the yazidis as propaganda, and completely ignored that fact at the moment ISIS is mainly just killing Shia, Kurds and a bunch of other minority groups in their general region, and in the scheme of things doing bugger all against 'western society'.

The fact he saw the world in such stuck black and white probably just came from him being a dumb teenager, and the fact he got convinced to go fight and die in another country probably came from the same. leaders have been convincing the young to fight, kill and die for stupid, pointless causes since as long as wars been a thing.

The fact he took his own life, and quite possibly others is tragic, but I don't particularly hard to understand. Just another confused teen getting convinced by some loving arsehole to fight and die for meaningless poo poo. History full of poor buggers that didn't know any better going the same way.
