That's not to say that MLS isn't a step below the EPL as a whole, but I'd think Seattle, LA, NE, NYCFC, Toronto, and the like would beat Sunderland-esque EPL teams (Aston Villa, Leicester, etc) 6/10 times (we're assuming no draws here). And sure teams like Chicago suck now, but I think in a couple of years even they will start to look more like a decent team, and the top is going to get better and better.
