I'm not sure how 2* BW helps prevent the attack tiles from happening, unless you mean she can just heal thru them. It's not the best strategy, but I guess it works if you can't stun them.

I don't use her, but Thora probably needed to be nerfed. Her Blue + Red was too strong. 12K damage, now it's down to 7K.

That's an impressively bad set of changes to Ragnarok, who was already terrible, wow.

Like yes, I remember the days when he had a power that cost 2 AP, but still. They just really don't know what they want to do with him, and that blue is trash (and then made his red bad, because it now feeds into his lovely new power).

Unless I am reading the planned update wrong, it looks like you just have to change who you use 2* Mags to feed. His combo with Mystique won't be as useful, but it looks like his pink will now poo poo out red tiles pretty well. I'm thinking red abilities are usually damage abilities anyway, so something like 2* Mags and Ares is going to be pretty amazing.

gently caress that nerf, RIP MN Mags/CStorm/Hawkeye combo slaughterhouse. The Reds are random too? Looks like no feeding for his Magnetic Flux skill either :(

I would have taken that at least

E: What the gently caress is the point for nerfing it anyway? It's not like you're playing a live player during PvP matches, and the AI doesn't exactly strategize that well. I guess someone just got tired of players plowing through the PvE events without getting a single scratch once they got that combo engine running.

Magneto (Marvel NOW) - Coming 3/23/15

Our next character update is to Magneto (Marvel NOW). Magneto has been in the game since we launched and has been part of a lot of powerful combos in that time. Recently he’s been the key to an infinite-turn combo with Mystique, which we don’t think is a good thing to have in the game. As a result we decided to update his Purple ability: Polarity Shift to make infinite turn combos harder to achieve, while preserving the unique strategy of the power, carefully choosing a bunch of tiles to convert.

Polarity Shift - Old - Cost: 11 (9 at level 5)
Magneto uses the sheer force of magnetism to reconfigure the battlefield. Changes 3 selected basic color tiles to Blue.
Level 2 - Costs 1 AP less.
Level 3 - Changes 4 selected tiles.
Level 4 - Costs 1 AP less.
Level 5 - Changes 5 selected tiles.
MAX Level 5: Changes 5 selected tiles.

Polarity Shift - New - Cost: 9
Magneto uses the sheer force of magnetism to reconfigure the battlefield. Changes 1 selected basic color tile to Blue, and creates 3 Red tiles.
Level 2 - Changes 2 selected basic color tiles to Blue.
Level 3 - Creates 4 Red tiles.
Level 4 - Changes 3 selected basic color tiles to Blue, and creates 3 Red tiles.
Level 5 - Creates 5 Red tiles.
MAX Level 5: Changes 3 selected basic color tiles to Blue, and creates 5 Red tiles.

Changes to Magneto are slated to land in game on Monday 3/23.

Should still be useful, just not nearly as good.

I honestly understand the nerf, personally, I could easily make two separate blue match-5s with it 90% of the time. You can usually still make at least one, though, with 3 chosen tiles. The 5 random reds is kind of strange, yeah, but I feel like the idea is to help feed his own red power, which is expensive but can generate tons of AP itself, so it might be more viable now as an option. Plus I believe they clarified that the five random reds will not convert blue tiles so it won't put your chosen match-5 at risk.

Does anyone else feel like the update made the AI more of a bastard to deal with? It seems like the enemy teams are generating AP at a ridiculous rate and assholes like Venom are spamming stun every other round. It's amazing because he's low enough level to not really be a threat, but his constant stuns just drag poo poo out unnecessarily. Are the enemy Heroes paired with minions that auto-generate an AP that they can really use now or something?

Also, Ragnarok's new blue ability is useless as a team-up card right? It seems like it doesn't heal anyone but him, so if you use it without him on your team, it just drops two charge tiles and that's that?

Yeah its sort of one of those things where you know you were getting away with murder before and its just disappointing to see the good times come to an end.

Speaking of good times, this SHIELD season is the first time I find myself going from fighting level 9-10s to 20-22s to 25-30s, instead of going right from 9-10 and hitting unkillable 90-120 groups immediately. How can I make that happen more often?

Finishing all the deadpool dailies is good for 3K ISO plus whatever you get in the process. Hitting the lightning rounds are another good way. If I hit most of them to 100 I can clear 15 to 20K ISO in a couple days

I can generally finish the first 2 nodes but the third is a struggle, and I tend not to have the characters required for the other two.

Will start to do more lightning rounds though, cheers.

I vote Ragnarok the new carry for 2* Mags since he'll poo poo out Red AND Blue tiles.

IIRC 4* characters don't deal as much matching damage (3 Red or 4 Green or etc) as a 2* character at level 94 until roughly level 111, and 3* don't until around level 104. Even once they deal the same/more matching damage, abilities that deal damage typicall lag until they've got 3+ covers. I wouldn't worry about raising X-Force unless you have at least 3 Green and Black covers. If you're there already, then it's really just a matter of taste whether you want to level them incrementally or all at once.

My x-force is 4-4-1, and is definitely my strongest guy right now. My concern is that maxxing him will trigger some flag that tells the game, herp derp, it's all maxxed xforce, 4hor and Fury opposition from now on! Or whatever the new 4hor equivalent is.

I only have maxed 2*s, but what I've heard is that the story events scale off the average level of your top 5 or so. So having one guy far ahead of the pack is supposed to make stories harder, but you should be in the same brackets. I think only the folks who just start get different brackets, based on what I've seen from my friends.

E: and to be clear, scaling just means higher level, not different fights

You might see some scaling in the PVP brackets if you really demolish like one or two in a row, but even that is unlikely as your 194 X-Force will eventually face teams of three dudes at level 194+ and at that point 1 on 3 isn't going to swing in your favor. The story events pretty clearly have intentional low level sections and high level sections, and I wouldn't worry about those out-scaling you too much. Chances are that by the time you get X-Force to 194, you can either hang with the big dogs, or you got extraordinarily lucky with your free card draws, in which case I hate you.

I have a magneto who is capable of being maxxed to hang with him, not sure who to make their third. I guess I'll just level them evenly... It's just that, now that I'm finally able to push him to 194, I've got an itchy trigger finger for it. Patience......

My xforce is 5-5-2 and level 200 and I still see mostly 1* and 2* teams in pvp and rarely struggle with pve scaling. That might be because these days I mainly just do the deadpool dailies though so my mmr is low.

5 black really is essential for xforce though, he really isn't worth levelling with less than that.
