Come to think of it, why don't we have a metal fan discussion thread and Skeletonwitchfan segragation so we can just post about off-brand Vektor worship here?

Since I'm talking about "black/thrash" washed in catchy melodies and hooky heavy metal, have some Manzer. There's a dirty song in there that would make Abigail proud.

Actually there's lots of great metalcore. The metalcore thread itself is seriously embarrassing most of the time though. There are unironic fans of Emmure and Waking the Cadaver and literally every discussion comes back around to weight-lifting (even more than in this thread).

It sounds like that you've got all the bases covered as far as looking to opinions in the forums on what you should be cool or not. The recommendations made in these forums are just opinions, not a mandated rule on what is good or bad music. Lighten up. You're trying too hard.

This is probably the best point made so far. 90% of subgenre distinctions can be made simply through logo analysis. Also seconding the power metal thread, all you losers need somewhere to talk about Nightwish and Jag Panzer or whatever in peace. No clean singing, 666 and hails etc.

I've been listening to this band Ghost Bath a lot over the last few days. They're from North Dakota but got away with pretending to be from China for years through a cunning strategy of never doing interviews or giving out pictures of themselves. They're "post" black metal, which if I remember correctly is red meat for thread hate but I'm sure some of you will like it.

I caught some grief from the girl at the Behemoth merch table for wearing even more un-metal attire (not metallica) to the same show/tour. I think she was either A) jelaous of my taste in excellent music/clothing. or B) looking to score some penis other than the slew of dudes she had been touring with for the last 5+ weeks. Either way, taunting someone for the choice in clothing is just so 7th grade.

Yes.
Speaking of power metal, I've read some rather high praise for the upcoming Kamelot album, and from people who, like me, haven't been impressed with the band's latest offerings. Of course, I'm taking it with a large grain of salt, but I'm carefully optimistic. Would be really nice if the band managed to make another album on the level of Karma, or at least The Black Halo.

It's not due until May, though.

I've been listening to the new Europe album daily for about two weeks now, and it just loving boggles the mind how good it is.
