Wait - male chars can wear the wedding dress? I'm going to have to rethink my spending priorities. I just wish the pubbies in this game were as easy to troll as the STO crowd.

All clothing/costumes fit on both genders.

And by that I don't mean the wedding dress becomes a tux or something but your brawny male orc barbarian is wearing a full on wedding gown.

Sadly no one is as easy to troll as in STO but once the rest of my crowns trickle in I might pick one up, find two players mutelessly standing too close to each other in a tavern and see what happens as I work my way through the emote list.

Edit: there's also wearable dresses that can be stolen from dressers/wardrobes and traded from other players you don't need to spend crowns on, but they take up equipment slots so you don't get protection wearing them

I've lurked here for years
Is there one starting area that is better than the others? I was playing a high elf and it just seemed kinda bland.

Also, what is with the helmets for Argonians? Looking at the Veteran Gear thing on the character creator they look like oversized stupid crowns. Do they not get something that covers their face?

Well, Ebonheart newbie island is Bleakrock Isle, which is basically a mini Solstheim. Or if you're unfamiliar with that name, it's snowy, rocky and densely forested. I like it well enough but sadly, once you finish it, you get stuck with a hosed up instance of it so there's little reason to go back.
Daggerfall starter island is Stros M'Kai, a desert island. I often go back there with my DC toon to craft poo poo since it has blacksmithing, clothing and woodworking crafting statioins, a dye station and a bank all in a nice little cluster.

That's just the Argonian style helmet, you can wear whatever style you want if you can find/craft it.

Nightblade is definitely a legit healer class. the thing about the templar restoring light skill line is it's mainly for a specifically front line paladin style of healing (all the spells are pbaoe and mainly do burst healing) whereas with a heal staff you can heal from the other end of the room. The siphoning ultimate can now be morphed into a burst heal though in a PvE situation i guess nothing can really compare to that gently caress off healing channel that Templars get. as a nightblade, though, you can spam the funnel health siphoning spell which is long range, does very cheap damage and slowly heals your team mates, so you can specialise in long range healing but able to switch to long range damage according to the situation. also you've got the stabs so if you want to finish off a boss you can wail on it with impale and the assassination ultimate. all in all its a pretty cool way to play as a caster

Each faction gets two* starter islands** with Daggerfall being Stros M'Kai (baller) and Betnikh, an Orc Stronghold on an island that's cool looking but a pain to get around

*AD gets just one, Kenarethi Roost, or whatever, which is off the coast of Elsweyr but is twice the size of the other factions island. Okay story but visually a bit bland for my tastes

**EP has not-Solstheim and the second spot isn't actually an island but a small dunmer/argonian settlement on mainland Morrowind. Bal Foyen, the second spot, has a good one stop spot for crafting close to a wayshrine

Yeah Mournhold is great, though I wish the bank was closer.
Seriously, I don't understand why the devs have insisted on designing almost all the hubs so that everything is so spread out. At least one part of the equation is always on the opposite side of the drat city. I mean, sure, I guess it makes the places seem livelier with people runnin around to and fro, but uggh.

The high elf areas are bland and boring. That will change when you get past Auridon. Then you get to visit the Grahtwood. Which is a sneaker's paradise, has a nice aesthetic, and is full of weird stuff like talking sentient trees and religious drug trips you can go on by licking toads.

But yeah, the Altmer zone is bland as hell and has some equally bland politics as its questing backdrop. Which fits the Altmer perfectly but isn't really that interesting without a unique visual aesthetic to go with it. Ebonheart Pact wins out early on in terms of interesting zones, with the Dominion a close second, and the Daggerfall Covenant falling way behind. The Covenant just has generic fantasy realms as their first two or three zones.

Also, for those wondering, you can remove the fog in the game. There's a tool that lets you do that. I believe the support staff has said it's legal too. It reveals some odd errors like distant islands having no textures, but it also makes the game look really nice in some zones. The first Ebonheart zone looks :black101: as gently caress when you can see that erupting volcano from any point in the area.

It also explains why they're still working on fixing the fog/range of view issue that the pre-release developer team created. It turns out the original world designers were lazy as gently caress and used the fog not as a way to gate FPS but to cover up a ton of lazy design choices and shortcuts in the world design. The first Ebonheart Pact zone for instance doesn't have the water extending into the distance. Instead it just cuts off, revealing a flat plane of water that disappears just outside view range. This is despite being able to see distant islands and the mainland from the coastlines of other zones.

Bal Foyen > Stros M'Kai > Kenarathi Roost are some of the best in terms of all crafting in one location, though they only get like one guild trader so if you need to buy anything you'll likely need to travel to a better hub.

The Bleakrock Guild Trader stand easily has to be the saddest guild store stall in the game.

Zenimax did overhaul a lot of the dungeons: almost all the ones I've re-visited lately had a completely different layout from when I ran through them originally months ago.

Edit:
for example I ran through Entila's Folly yesterday and I cannot see its current layout in that list of maps you posted.

Seriously, holy gently caress.

So am I understanding this right: all class abilities use magicka. All melee weapon abilities use stamina. So would my best idea be to roll a kajhiit or a high elf if I wanna be min maxy about my nightblade? Feel free to let me know if the racial bonuses are completely worthless, but some of them sound pretty decent even though I don't really have a frame of reference on how much 15% more magicka recovery or max magicka really is.
