It's just not amazingly funny when nationally, but particularly in the South Island we are seeing a massive drop off in political interest. People come into this thread and try to get involved in what is usually a decently interesting discussion and they get mocked for not talking about Auckland. I get that you think it's super witty but it's actually really boring for everyone except you two.

It's also why I am pissed off. There are some really decent high ranking cops in our police, a few really good ones too but you then have to wonder what the hell has happened. Under age sex crime, no charges, after all the soul searching the commissioned officers did after not so recent events... I'm going to leave it there. *** I bone a South Island bird on a regular basis and my children are half South Island. My inlaws are getting hosed over by the shittiness of Christchurch admin. The only thing that happens in this thread is that people post gifs of John Key loving up basic handyman tasks and handshakes. On rare occasions someone will post a link to something that's topical and relevant. Other times it will just be "JOHN KEY MAKES ME SO MADDDDD". If you've waded through all that poo poo and still managed to zero in on the odd South Islander comment then maybe you've got your sensitivity knob set a little too high. Besides, everyone knows Wellington is the greater cesspit.

The Port needs to gently caress off already, we're not going to be able to see past their huge new wharfs from the one the Council and Government just paid millions of dollars for the public to enjoy.

On the other hand, Auckland has a huge amount of shoreline that is basically just undeveloped junk covered in garbage or completely blocked off by industrial land (like onehunga) so I don't know why everyone is having a cry about one specific piece of one of the two harbours. Full disclaimer: I've never been to the wharf you're talking about because there's no parking and I'd rather not put myself through the public transport experience again.

It's 'one piece' of the two harbours that happens to completely block the view to the Harbour. When you consider that Auckland has been redeveloping its Waterfront since before the 2000 America's Cup to improve the whole area, having it very suddenly visually cut off from the thing that gives it the very reason to exist is a bit frustrating, considering Len Brown's and the Council's gently caress-ups when it comes to dealing with POAL.

Maybe I'm out of touch because I don't live in Auckland for the adorable harbour lifestyle, I dunno. It seems like Auckland has lots of shoreline real estate that could be turned into something pretty and grand but everyone fixates on the harbour. I don't see a good outcome here because it's the only port for container ships in Auckland, and Auckland is a relatively big city which is growing rapidly and will presumably need more cargo capacity eventually.
