Jesus Christ that was great, with far too many amazing moments to count, though Rex's,"....oh poo poo!" when he learns about the Supreme Overlord Master was pretty spectacular. Dennis jumping straight to the endgame and telling them to commit group suicide was incredible too.

Dennis starting a cult is a pretty great endgame to all his sociopathy this season. To be fair, I would also start a cult to keep my friends from eating my Thin Mints.

How does he get more ripped as time goes on? Like I sort of imagined him in The Gang Saves The Day was him getting back into shape to be back on TV, but apparently's he's the real bronzegolden god of Sunny.

I loved the episode but like several other episodes in this series I definitely got the sense that they needed a couple more minutes to flesh out a couple of jokes/threads. Frank's thing with the woman for example.

Everytime Rex makes an appearance it's gold.

But that doesn't say much really cause it's true for pretty much every minor recurring character on Sunny.

He's a quality lay though.

Yeah, it looked like all of the exercises they were doing were designed to injure them. I guess Frank wanted the hot girl to get injured so they could soak together, but even the original guys at the beginning were doing a lot of snapping and jerking and you could hear a few "ow"s in there. Not sure what the joke was there, but I still found the idea of swinging those handled medicine balls around to be pretty funny to watch.

I also found it kind of strange how little of Dax we saw. I would consider Dax Shepard and Seann William Scott to be fairly equal in terms of star power; they've both starred in movies here and there, yet SWS had more of a featured role with Country Mac, whereas Dax's role was even more minimal than Rex. Maybe he's just a fan of the show and asked for a role and they gave him that one.

Kettle bells are used frequently in crossfit, and crossfit is notorious for promoting crappy form and sometimes downright dangerous poo poo. Very cultish fitness movement.

Done right, crossfit doesn't have to be dangerous, but it's such a widespread fad with little to no regulation that it's hard to separate the good from the bad. Until you land in the hospital. (Look up crossfit and "rhabdo")

Is a huge fad in fitness right now that your body is the greatest enemy and you have to beat the poo poo out of yourself for results.

Yeah I think you're right, definitely a reference to Crossfit and people getting injured doing it.

Can't believe that was the last one, drat this season went fast! Looking back there were probably 3-4 episodes I loved right off the bat (The Gang Misses the Boat, Frank Retires, Charlie Work) and 2-3 episodes that didn't quite work for me (The Gang Spies Like U.S., Family Fight), while the rest were probably 3.5 - 4 out of 5s. But it's all good because I felt that way about Season 9 last year and I still rewatch those just as much as the others on Netflix, so I predict the same thing will happen with this season.

Not that there weren't some funny episodes, but overall, would say that this was the worst season overall in terms of quality. Someone mentioned in the thread before, but it definitely felt like there were way too meta/self-referential moments from the gang without any payoff by the final episode. Just kind of rehashing a lot of old jokes/lines/characters from previous seasons in a disjointed way.

The Gang Beats Boggs and Charlie Work felt the most original and fun out of the bunch

I'm sure there will be a number of disagreements but I still think Season 8 is the worst season by a pretty fair margin. That being said, it still has a number of good episodes, but nothing on the level of Charlie Work or Frank Retires.

The only episodes this season that I thought were underwhelming were Psycho Pete Returns (aside from the opening scene, which I loved -- anytime the gang sings, it's fantastic), The Gang Spies Like U.S. and, to a certain extent, The Gang Goes On Family Fight.

I don't get the love for Frank Retires. A good episode for sure, but not a standout to me. It would have been a good season finale, though. I'm not sure why they chose to go with Asskickers instead.

Likewise, I'm surprised that Boggs seems to be underappreciated. That was top 10 all-time for me. Charlie Work was probably top 3.

edit: Psycho Pete was goddamn terrible

Did anyone else feel that this season just felt different from the others? I can really pin point it but there was something about the progression of the episodes that felt very different to the usual pace.

Having watched the first 9.5 seasons in the space of a couple of weeks before taking the last 3 of this season at a regular pace, I honestly have to say that all the seasons kind of blur together for me with no real apparent dip in quality or feel (which is remarkable) - none of the episodes this season felt out of place with anything else I've seen, even my least favorite (Family Fight) was still fun, and didn't feel particularly different to other episodes in other seasons that didn't quite wow me like episodes around them did.

Oh, come on, don’t leave your Uncle Teabag hanging
Charlie work, boggs, frank retires.

Different order than a few pages back, iirc.

I was slightly let down by the season, thought the AV Club review was overly kind. I dont like how close Dennis now is to a caricature and too overtly murderous/psychotic. Diagnosing him was a mistake.

I dont like how Mac is now quite subservient and wet, whereas he's best when he's getting hot about something.

I love the chemistry of the Gang together. Especially when they pair off. Charlie and Dee getting it on felt close to leaping over fish territory, but they played it well. Charlie Work was superb.

Considering it's now season 10, Sunny is in remarkable shape. Even the episodes that fall flat or don't work still make me laugh out loud two or three times in 20mins. That can't be said of many shows. Dee is close to being my favourite character. Olsen's physical comedy skills are excellent and her reactions to the heinous poo poo going on around her is always fun.

Mixed season for me. Roll on next January.
