I just want guddamn Lollipop for my Moto X 2013. Why is this so hard? I always like showing it off to people who have large phones - they play around with it and say "wait this is really comfy in the hand and I can do everything with my thumb"

I managed to flash Lollipop onto my Xperia Z3 Compact this morning using an image from the Baltics. Apart from pooing myself because I've never done that outside of a Nexus 7, it's running fine. Would anyone with a Z3C like to know anything about 5.0.2 running on it?

Not sure if anyone can answer this, but I got a prepaid SIM card for use abroad but whenever I have this card inserted into my phone it keeps rebooting every 10 minutes or so. Other than that it works as expected. My normal SIM works completely without issue. Is there any way I can troubleshoot or fix this? I actually got a replacement SIM because of this issue but I have the same problem with both of them. I have a sony xperia z.

While you can easily convert to a GPE, HTC supported the M7 pretty well. Can't even complain. ------- Okay so I'm trying to find the proper charge cord for a Nexus 5. I have the one that came with the phone at home, but I wanted a spare for work so I can charge my phone. I'm using some random cable now but it takes like 5 hours for the phone to charge with it. Yes I know I could just buy a Tylt Vu or something but I plan on switching to the M9 next month. So yeah, I figure I could find the cord on Monoprice or something but I want to make sure it's the proper cord (the one that came with my phone charges in about an hour and a half or so).

Normal chargers, though they vary the amount of amperage they can supply, are limited to 5 volts of output of the USB spec. Since watts of power is Volts * Amps, 5 volts is limiting the amount of power that can be pushed over a little usb connection since amperage can only go so high. Quick Charge 2.0 increases the amount of voltage in the charger. The Turbocharger that comes with the Turbo and Nexus 6 have two additional charge levels of 9v @ 1.6A and 12v @ 1.2A on top of 5V @ 1.6A. That means that the charger can supply 14.4 watts of power to the device instead of just 8 at 5v. Even a 2A traditional charger can only supply 10w.

Sony's Lollipop implementation is akin to their Kit Kat implementation, in that they've changed some colours of the UI here and there, but it's very similar to stock. LED light works as normal (others have had issues with that with Lollipop on other devices) and the lockscreen seems to work as it does in stock. System performance feels pretty much unchanged next to 4.4.4 so far as I can tell after about 8 hours use. I did have a heart attack when flashing the phone because it took about 15 minutes to boot and I was sure I'd bricked it. Reboots seem a bit faster than with 4.4.4. Poor trip report I know. Is there anything more specific you'd like me to keep an eye on over the next few days?

Android Auto aftermarket receivers: The ones I have come across are all too fancy with tuners, navigation, USB, blah, blah, blah. I just want a dumb unit that provides an amp and a high quality screen! Anyone seen any announcements of such a thing?

You can indeed install certain apps to the SD card - I take it Android removed that feature a while ago? I had to do this all the time in 2010 when my HTC Desire ran out of internal memory (512MB).  Also, some apps let you store their media on the SD card:  This is obviously enabled on a per-app basis, but it works for Nokia Here Maps at any rate. I'm afraid I don't have PocketCasts to try it out for you. Volume change works as expected: the buttons change the volume of whatever is playing at that specific moment, and you can adjust them independently in Settings anyway:  I don't think my Nexus 7 gives me any problems with volume adjustments on 5.0.2.

That being said, the UI on Alpines has always been great. The nicest thing about my Alpine besides the rocket-fast seeking with the big knob for navigating the iPod is that the 1-6 radio presets will skip to 0% 17% 34% 50% 67% and 84% of whatever list you're in, allowing you to quickly search the entire iPod in seconds no matter how big your library is. Consider that the resistive touchscreen in my wife's new Subaru BRZ allows her to move one position at a time, not looping around, at a rate of maybe one position every two seconds. Need to get to an artist beginning with S? Hope you have fifteen minutes to stare at a touchscreen because that's literally not an exaggeration.
