$140 is a very fair price for them to be completely honest.

I thought so too. I listened to them a bit in the store before picking mine up, and I was pleasantly surprised by the Solo2. Good sound without overly exaggerated bass.. I didn't even notice much of a difference between them and the Beats Studio sound wise. I liked them a heck of a lot more than the Bose SoundTrue and SoundLink.

While I'm sure they aren't comparable to the Audio Technica M50x in the sound department, they fit my need for a good sounding portable headphone perfectly.

I'm looking for fairly cheap sport headphones that will still allow me to maintain situational awareness, for walking and jogging in a neighborhood with no sidewalks. I looked at Aftershokz, but the reviews I've seen indicate that they're difficult to wear with glasses.

Budget - Under $50. I want something I can afford to break. I'll pay more for a bluetooth headset.
Source - Mostly a Moto G. Occasionally a Clip Zip.
Isolation Requirements - Has to allow sound in. I would prefer not having too much sound leak out.
Preferred Type of Headphone - Ideally the kind that can clip onto my ears.

Sound quality isn't quite as important, since they're not going to be my primary headphones.

I was looking at the Asus Strix Pro as it should work for all my needs. However, I would like some other suggestions before I spend $100 on them and find it there was something better for cheaper.

After digging into the OP some more and reading the Headphone Buying Guide I'm leaning heavily towards V-Moda's.

http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/practically-perfect-every-way-v-moda-xs - appeals to me because of how compact it can get and the reviewer seems satisfied with the sound quality.

http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/v-moda-crossfade-m-80-and-v-80-true-blood-headphones - looks nice as well, but less compact and the review is older.

I'm also on the fence as to whether or not I really want over or on-ear. Does anyone have experience wearing these for extended periods of time? Pretty comfortable? Anything you would recommend more? Thanks!

And I'm pretty sure it's not the earpiece itself either; it's something to do with the jack.

Mostly Harmless.
It seems unlikely that the 3.5mm TRS/TRRS jack would always fail only for the left side on multiple sets. It's more likely that it's the connection to the left side driver that's failing, which would probably have something to do with how you insert/remove/store them putting strain on the wire at the connection.

For extended wear I'm generally much happier with a full size, over the ear set. It's a very personal thing though—some of my coworkers will wear headphones I think are atrociously uncomfortable all day long and not care. I've never personally experienced either of the V-Moda's so I can't help you there.

I use these: http://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Wir...uetooth+earbuds

Situational awareness part is to just keep the volume down. I use the bigger padded buds and bend the bit around and they stay in the ears pretty well while I run.

Sound quality is just ok, but they let me answer calls, change tracks, and adjust the volume while I run. Super lightweight and easy to use. They also recharge with a micro USB instead of using a AA like a bunch of similar ones. So I can recharge it with any cable I have for my phone, mouse, watch, etc. It's really convenient so exactly what I wanted.

Sounds like it. The unfortunate reality of earbuds is that regardless of their quality or price tag, it's very easy to break them through just normal use, even if you're mindful. This is the reason why I stopped paying for $200 IEMs (like the q-Jays that I absolutely loved and went through 2 pairs of), as they simply couldn't last me more than 2 years at the most, and usually not even that.

That and most of my portable listening is podcasts recorded at 128kbps.

So I bought some Philips Fidelio X2's for my computer a few weeks ago and I've been in love with them ever since. I have yet to find any kind of music that doesn't sound good with them. Still using them just straight off the motherboard and mostly happy with it but I'm thinking about maybe grabbing a Schiit Magni/Modi stack to pair with them.

If it's loud enough, you don't need an amp. If you don't hear any hissing/noise when nothing's playing, you don't need a DAC.

So if I get an Audeeze LCD3 (or some other top end head phone) and my objective2 amp is able to make it loud enough for my tastes, there is no point in purchasing some $1000 amp to go along with it? Are expense amps/dacs just audiophile snake oil?

what's the latest recommendation for a pair of gym/jog earbuds under $100? The MEE M6 I've had for a past year or so were okay, except for the volume switch shorting out the left channel almost immediately after I got them.

I have a pair of older Shure buds that I like a ton, but the cable got damaged so I lost the left channel. Could I just get those repaired?

I've had a Valhalla and Bifrost powering my K702s for a few years now and I've never considered changing anything. great sound and doesn't look like some plastic DIY bullshit on my desk. I mean seriously, do you really need an LCD dB readout on a headphone amp or DAC? my only beef is the power switch is on the back, and that's admittedly a small quibble, as I haven't lit myself up on the tubes trying to turn it off yet.

some of the the kickstarter and indiegogo amp combos look pretty good, the Geek Pulse among them, but I feel like most of them are trying too hard to compete on blue led features to stand out from the competition. the less i have to think about something like a headphone amp, the better.

Budget - Preferably around ~$50, but willing to go up to $100 for wireless
Source - mostly my android phone, occasionally my computer maybe
Isolation Requirements - not particularly
Preferred Type of Headphone - Clip-ons, but I'm willing to give IEMs a shot. gently caress earbuds forever though, I have never been able to get them to stay in my ears.
Preferred Tonal Balance - I've liked the Koss KSC75 that I've had
Past Headphones - these are my current headphones for portability, I also have these for gaming and skype. Got them because my netbook only has a single combo audio/mic jack. I like them all right, a bit tight on my head after a while, and of course you look like a tool wearing them.
Preferred Music - Little bit of everything, but I mostly listen to either rock or pop music.

Looking for something primarily for my cell phone, with a microphone so I can answer calls without having to unplug my headset. I have Bluetooth 3 on my phone, if that that makes any difference in selection. Also hoping for wireless because I'm tired of worrying about breaking the area around the plug by shoving my phone in my pockets.

Beyerdynamic DT770 are comfortable as all hell. They're pretty solid for most genres, I've found. Mad dogs will also be comfortable as someone else said, too. Mostly comes down to whether you prefer leather or velour pads. I own headphones with both types of pads, and prefer the velour ones myself.

https://mrspeakers.com/shop/mad-dog-pro/ are the Mad Dog Pro. They're a modded Fostex T50p ( http://www.amazon.com/Fostex-Semi-Open-Headphones-Commercial-Applications/dp/B0002MT6RY ), but I almost think just calling them a mod would do them disservice, since quite a bit of work is done to them. I owned the pair of headphones from MrSpeakers that has the same type of pads (which I've traded away for a different pair of headphones this week) -- the comfort on them is top notch for sure. I've heard very good things about the Mad Dog Pros and the type of sound they bring to the table. You'd have to find a used pair of Pros to fit within your price range, though.

As for the DT770, I have the 80 ohm version and love them, got them on sale right before Christmas for $169.99. They're pretty fun to me, especially when listening to anything electronic or anything where the bass plays a significant role. They don't have overbearing bass or anything, but I would say the bass is one of the biggest marks for them for quality of it. I've not used the 250s myself, so I can't fairly speak to them. Just DONT get the 770M version, they're not nearly as good from what I've heard.

You can't go wrong either way, as far as I'm concerned. Though, to fit your budget of under 300, you would need to find a pair of Mad Dog Pros used.

If you have a decent headphone amplifier that can power the 250ohms, go for it. Otherwise, the 80ohm will be just fine. I have Beyers and they are definitely very comfortable. They're so roomy on the inside, they don't rest on your ears. DT990 PROs are also on sale very often. They all sound great, but they each have a different tonal quality (open, semi-open, closed) that tailor to different preferences.
